Firstly, the positives - as with all Simmons bars; during happy hour, the drinks are super cheap. The staff at the Angel bar are friendly.
The negatives - the cocktails and most drinks taste really bad. They seem to use really cheap juice and syrup for their mixers (which has a really disgusting aftertaste).
I also witnessed people who could barely speak still being served drinks (which might explain my next comment).
The men's toilets smelt like vomit, and the air freshener was hanging open off the wall. I put it back on and noticed a short while later it had been removed again.
There was a general lack of atmosphere for a Saturday night. One staff member kept handing out sparklers and setting off confetti canon's (filling everyone's drinks with bits of confetti).
Worth popping in for a quick cheap drink during happy hour (if you can stomach the odd tasting mixers). Not somewhere I would recommend heading for a night out.
Corey is hands down the highlight of Simmons Essex Road! From the moment we walked in, his energy lit up the place — warm, welcoming, and effortlessly cool. He mixes drinks like a pro, always on point with recommendations, and somehow remembers everyone’s order with a smile.
Not only is he quick behind the bar, but he also creates such a fun, laid-back vibe that keeps you wanting to stay all night. Whether you’re out for a chilled drink or a big night with friends, Corey makes the experience next-level. Give this man a raise — he’s the reason we keep coming back!
Arrived around 10pm, service was amazing! The staff and security were welcoming and made sure we had the best time! Will be coming back soon. Thank you for making my mates birthday a memorable night!
A fun place to be for happy hour drinks and good atmosphere. Came with my friends and boyfriend, we had a blast! highly recommend. Will be telling my friends about this place.
I do not go to bars but I attended Simmons Angel and now have become a regular due to the absolutely unreal customer service that was provided here!
The team and Solomon were exceptional and I am glad to feel appreciated spending my money as they make their drinks with love and cater to each of their customers individually!
