About This Pub
Ah, the Shoulder of Mutton – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this lovely welcoming vibe where the staff are always up for a chat and make everything feel effortless, whether you're just popping in for a beer in the garden or tucking into some delicious homemade Bangladeshi dishes that folks rave about. The owner sounds like a real gem, putting their all into making sure everything's spot on, and it's brilliant to hear about the community events like the wheel gatherings that bring people together. On the flip side, though, their website's a bit of a letdown with access problems, which might put you off if you're trying to plan ahead, and the hours can seem a bit muddled, so you'd want to confirm before you go. Overall, with a solid 4.2 rating from plenty of happy visitors, it's a great spot for a laid-back evening, but it might not be the place if you're after a more polished or extensive menu. I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and enjoy the simple pleasures!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The service is absolutely brilliant – always friendly and fun, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They serve up some cracking homemade Bangladeshi food that's far from ordinary, with the owner clearly putting their heart into it.
-
It's a welcoming spot with a great atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a pint in the sunshine or grabbing a good-value breakfast.
-
They host fun events like mid-week and Sunday wheel gatherings, adding a bit of excitement to the mix.
-
The team goes above and beyond to help out, like sorting accommodation and a pint in a pinch – it's that kind of place.
Cons
-
Their website seems a bit unreliable, with access issues that might make it tricky to check menus or hours before heading over.
-
The operating hours look a tad confusing from what's listed, so it might be worth double-checking to avoid any surprises.
-
As a village pub, the selection might feel a bit limited if you're after something more fancy or a wider range of options.
