About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about Huntsman Carvery – it's one of those hidden gems in the heart of Dunchurch that just hits the spot for a hearty Sunday dinner. I mean, the food is spot on; we're talking massive plates of tender meat, homemade sausages, and all the trimmings like fresh bread sauce and cranberry – it's proper comforting grub that leaves you feeling satisfied without breaking the bank. The team there are an absolute delight, always chatting away and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really makes the place feel welcoming and relaxed, especially in that charming old building. It's great value too, with options like a three-course meal for around £30, including starters and puds you can even take home if you're stuffed. But, fair's fair, it's not perfect – they only open on weekends with quite restricted times, so if you're not an early booker, you might miss out, and the deposit system can feel a bit of a faff. Still, if you're up for a traditional carvery done right, it's well worth the effort; I'd say give it a go when you can, and you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with massive portions of wholesome carvery fare that's tender, delicious, and packed with homemade touches like sausages and sauces.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always smiling and going the extra mile to make your visit enjoyable.
  • It has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere in a charming historic building that really adds to the whole experience.
  • Great value for money, especially with the three-course menu starting at just £29.95 per person, including unlimited carvery options.
  • The owner, who's also the head chef, is clearly passionate about using the best cuts of meat and cooking them to perfection.
Cons
  • It's only open on Saturdays and Sundays with limited hours, which can make it tricky to pop in spontaneously.
  • The booking system requires a non-refundable deposit and has staggered slots, so you'll need to plan ahead to avoid missing out.
  • Takeaway options are popular and often sell out, particularly on Sundays, so you might have to get in early if that's your preference.
  • One small niggle from a review was about a minor improvement needed, though it wasn't specified – perhaps something like pacing the service a bit better.

The food was good quality, wholesome Sunday dinner, with all the trimmings, with MASSIVE portions! The staff were attentive, professional and friendly. Cannot fault the service at all, they were fantastic! The atmosphere was relaxed, with the building having all the charm of a listed property. It was very busy when we went, but we didn't have to shout over the table to be heard. I will definitely be back again! They get very busy, so I would advise that you book beforehand.

Best carvery I have ever had . The meat was beautiful so tender and all tasted delicious. Homemade sausages as well. All the bread sauce, cranberry sauces are homemade too. The Head chef is the owner , very passionate about best cuts of meat and how to cook them to give best flavours. Excellent place to eat out at. Families welcome.

Went here for my granddaughter birthday. Excellent food. Certainly had plenty on my plate. Staff were so polite and helpful. Love how you can take your dessert home if you can’t manage it. Well done Huntsman. You were all amazing

Can find no faults, unlimited carvery, starter and pudding for £30 is very good value considering the quality of the meat, homemade sausages, masses of gravy, lovely selection of puddings also. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful interior and friendly, catering staff. Only improvement would be for slightly more parking but this cannot be helped, so overall 5/5. Photos are of a selection of the puddings on the menu.
