About This Pub
You know, chatting about Scholars Restaurant in Blackburn, it's one of those places that really warms your heart with its student-led charm. The food stands out as something special – think creative dishes packed with fresh, seasonal flavours that blend tradition and innovation seamlessly, all thanks to the budding chefs putting their all into it. The service is spot on too; the team are so polite and enthusiastic, making every meal feel personal and enjoyable, like you're being looked after by friends who genuinely care. It's also a bargain for the quality, which is always a plus when you're out for a nice bite. On the downside, though, it's not open every day, just four days a week with limited hours, so you might need to juggle your plans around that, and it could be tricky during college breaks when things quiet down. All in all, if you're after a unique dining experience with a mix of excellence and that fresh, educational energy, I'd say give it a go – it's got that perfect balance of good vibes and great grub, but just keep those opening times in mind to avoid disappointment.

Cons
-
It's only open four days a week with fairly short hours, so you might have to plan your visit carefully and miss out if your schedule doesn't align.
-
Being part of a college, things could feel a bit unpredictable, like potential closures during academic holidays or terms.
-
The online presence isn't fully sorted, as it's unclaimed, which might mean updates on menus or events aren't as reliable as you'd hope.

Yet again, it was an absolutely wonderful meal. Karen @team are working so hard to provide great food and fab service. Christmas dinner was so delicious, and portion sizes were large. Got some extra Christmas pudding and chocolate melts. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Where do I start....I was blown away by the four course vegan plant based menu priced at £12 the catering students at Blackburn College, created, cooked and served at Scholars. I and my husband went for lunch and the whole experience far exceeded our expectations, the food was amazing, beautifully presented, cooked, seasoned and was an absolute delight to eat. This is accomplished, confident cooking and yet the chefs are only aged 16 to 19 and their talents put to shame many of the places I have dined, where the vegan food has been a token gesture, an after thought of just putting any old rubbish on the plate. Scholars vegan food was well thought out, creative, exciting and cooked with passion. These are our chefs of the future, how lucky are we. I had a chat with student chefs Imogen and Gem (who made our mushroom dish & dessert respectively) who were so enthusiastic about their cooking. The front of house team were equally as good, serving the dishes and making sure we had drinks etc and checking if we liked the food. Credit is due to their mentor Head Chef Dave and Restaurant Manager Karen for introducing a vegan plant based menu. I cannot wait to go back.
We had our Christmas meal here today from Arts 2 Heal. It was fantastic, every course was simply perfect!! The friendly staff were so lovely and made us all feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Defo recommend. Thank you!!
