About This Pub

So, I've been having a look at this place called Blackedge Ribblesdale Brewery Bar down in Blackburn, and it's got that classic brewery feel that could be right up our street. On the bright side, one reviewer absolutely raved about it, giving it top marks, and they mentioned the beer tasting fresh, which is always a treat when you're settling in for a chat and a drink. But, fair's fair, it's not all sunshine – another review pointed out that the beers were a bit steep price-wise, and there were issues with the taste and colour not matching up, like it being more red than you'd expect and lacking that fruity punch. It's a pity it's closed at the moment, as it might miss out on building a proper buzz. All in all, if you're in the area and it's back open, it could be worth a go for something different, but maybe keep your expectations in check and budget for those pints – it's about getting that balanced experience, right?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer can taste quite fresh, which is always a plus for a brewery bar like this one.
  • It has a solid overall rating, suggesting that some folks have had a really enjoyable experience there.
Cons
  • Drinks seem a bit on the pricey side for Blackburn, with one person mentioning nearly £11 for two beers.
  • There were complaints about the beer's quality, like it not looking or tasting as expected – no real blueberry flavour and a yeasty taste.
  • It's currently closed, which is a real shame if you're hoping to pop in for a pint.
  • The place appears a tad quiet based on what's been said, so it might not have that lively atmosphere we're all after.

Ordered two Behind Blue Eyes (blueberry wheat beers) and cost £10.90 - in Blackburn, that is rather expensive. The beer came out red, rather than the usual purple ish as you would expect. Tasted very fresh - needed more time conditioning and just tasted of yeast. No real blueberry taste. Bar was quiet and the barmaid didn’t know how to pour (ended up with half pints in pint glasses - she had to get another never of staff to pour). All in all - building done up nicely but I wouldn’t rush back. Also had unisex toilets, which may put a lot of people off.
