About This Pub

Ah, the Scarborough Flyer – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its laid-back charm and buzzing atmosphere, especially if you're a fan of catching the footy or rugby on the big screens. I love how it's so affordable, making it easy to pop in for a pint without worrying about the wallet, and the food options seem like solid value for a quick bite. Plus, being dog-friendly adds a nice touch; it's always lovely to see places that cater to us and our four-legged friends. From the reviews, some staff really shine with their helpful attitudes, turning a simple visit into a memorable one. But let's be honest, it's not all roses – there are tales of dodgy food that might not live up to expectations, like meals that feel reheated rather than freshly made, and a few gripes about uninterested service that could leave you feeling a bit flat. Then there's the odd hygiene slip-up, with sticky tables and floors that need a spruce-up, which might make you think twice about lingering too long. Overall, it's a decent spot for a casual get-together, but if you're after something polished, it might not quite hit the mark – still, with its lively events and welcoming feel, it's worth a try for a balanced pub experience in Scarborough.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a cracking affordable spot with inexpensive prices, perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
  • They've got a smashing selection of beers and a menu that offers good value, especially for pub grub like burgers and breakfasts.
  • Dog-friendly vibes make it a winner if you're popping in with your furry mate – more places should follow suit!
  • The atmosphere is lively with live sports on the screens and events like Flyer Fridays, which sound like a right laugh.
  • Service can be spot on from what some folks say, with friendly staff going the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss; one person mentioned a burger that looked like it had seen better days, possibly zapped in the microwave.
  • Some staff seem a bit disinterested, which can put a dampener on things when you're after a bit of cheer behind the bar.
  • Hygiene isn't always top-notch, with sticky surfaces and floors that could do with a good mop – not the nicest touch.
  • There might be issues with glassware, like serving drinks in chipped glasses, which isn't ideal for a relaxed pint.

My "proper" burger...I would NOT have fed to my dog... staff were polite & refunded my money...but seriously do not insult my intelligence by trying to convince me it was not pinged in a microwave. Floors need a mop...and everything I touched was sticky...Avoid!

Seems nice enough, bit like weather spoons or bar one. The bar tender was completely uninterested. Very good selection of beers, food looked good value. Dog friendly, which is brilliant! More places should be like this! On the downside, Mr personality behind the bar served me a pint in achipped glass.

Came in with my daughter for food and a drink for myself.. Ashley served us and she was amazing, she offered us the best she could do when my daughter asked for paper and a pen, her attitude was just delightful even though she was the only one on the bar. I'm a bar maid myself so I definitely can tell when you notice another great bar maid, she deserves all the recognition she can get! It's a tough industry but you can tell she enjoys it and she's definitely one to keep around! Thank you Ashley, we shall return when we can :) also food was great! Thank you
