About This Pub

Oh, what a gem Saravanaa Bhavan East Ham is for anyone craving that authentic South Indian taste right here in London! I've got to say, the food really steals the show with its vibrant flavours – from the comforting idly vada sambar to those delightful Gulab Jamun and Payasam for a sweet finish. It's all so reasonably priced, making it an easy choice for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The staff are just brilliant, always greeting you with a smile and ensuring everything runs smoothly, which adds such a nice touch to the whole experience. Plus, with plenty of healthy vegetarian and vegan options, it's spot on for those watching what they eat. On the flip side, not every dessert is a winner; the falooda could use a bit of an upgrade to suit more tastes, and if you're a coffee lover who likes it strong, you might find theirs a touch too mild. It does get crowded, especially on Sundays when everyone's queuing up, so planning ahead is probably a good idea. All in all, it's a welcoming place that delivers solid value and a feel-good atmosphere, but with those minor niggles, it's not quite perfect – still, I'd recommend giving it a go for a taste of home away from home.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely authentic and packed with flavour – dishes like crispy Aloo 65 and buttery naan are real crowd-pleasers, making every meal feel like a treat.
  • Service is warm and welcoming, with staff who greet you with big smiles and make the whole experience feel like catching up with old mates.
  • It's super affordable, with meals around £10-20, so you can enjoy a proper feast without breaking the bank.
  • Loads of vegetarian and vegan options on offer, which is brilliant for anyone looking for healthy, satisfying choices.
  • The atmosphere is clean and inviting, perfect for a casual lunch, family get-together, or even a solo stop for great coffee and tea.
Cons
  • Some desserts, like the falooda, don't quite hit the mark for everyone and might need a bit of tweaking to get them just right.
  • The coffee can be a tad light and not as strong as some folks might hope, which is a shame if you're after a proper kick.
  • It gets pretty busy, especially on weekends, so you might end up waiting in a queue, which can put a damper on spontaneous visits.

You haven’t tried Indian food until you go here! And amazing prices for the portions and quality of food. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The place was buzzing on a Sunday with people queued up to be seated…but that’s how you know it’s a hot spot. The paneer was delivered steaming…chai masala fragrant and hitting the right spot on my stomach. Shout out to John who suggested I get the panner biryani. Would go again!

Traditional and authentic in London We were tourists, we visited this restaurant because this is well known from back home and also this restaurant is here for many years. After a temple visit this vegetarian food gives good feel and satisfaction. Only suggestion is their coffee was too light, stingy coffee master didn’t add enough coffee to the milk.

The restaurant offers great food at affordable prices, featuring a variety of traditional Indian dishes. There are also pure vegetarian and vegan options available. The customer service is excellent; whenever I visit with my family, we are always greeted with big smiles, and I would rate the service a perfect 10/10. It's better to visit in the evening after 6:30 PM, as you'll find free parking on the side streets. If you arrive later, parking is still available, but you may need to pay.
