About This Pub
Ah, The Overdraft Tavern – it's one of those neighbourhood gems in East Ham that feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really shine through; they're chatty and attentive, making every visit feel personal and warm, which is just what you want after a long day. The beer selection is solid too, with plenty of continental and keg options that hit the spot without costing a fortune, and those comfy chairs mean you can kick back and relax for ages. It's conveniently tucked near the station, so popping in for a quick one is a breeze, and there's even a pool table for a bit of friendly competition. On the flip side, it's not the place for real ale lovers, as that's missing from the lineup, and the happy hour doesn't seem to offer much in the way of deals, which is a shame. Overall, it's a straightforward, affordable spot that's perfect for a low-key catch-up with mates, but if you're after something more vibrant or varied, you might want to look elsewhere. Still, with that solid 4.0 rating, it's clear this place has its loyal crowd who appreciate the simple pleasures it brings.
Pros and Cons
Pros

It's got a cracking selection of continental and keg beers, perfect for a casual pint without breaking the bank.

Location is spot on, right near East Ham station and with handy nearby spots like bookies and food shops for a quick bite.
-
There's a pool table and it's kept well maintained, adding a bit of fun for when you fancy a game.
-
Prices are inexpensive, so it's easy on the wallet, especially for a local pub in London.
Cons
-
No real ale on offer, which might leave some beer enthusiasts a bit disappointed if that's your thing.
-
The happy hour deals aren't all that appealing, so you might not save as much as you'd hope.
-
It's a pretty low-key, unassuming place – more of a quiet locals' spot, so if you're after a lively vibe or something more exciting, it could feel a tad underwhelming.
-
Without a website or much online presence, it's tricky to get the latest info before heading over.

Absolutely incredible! The staff working at overdraft from Alisha Murphy, Josh burtonshaw, Caitlyn jones, iestyn Phillips and tia Rix are out of this world, Alisha will wait on you hand and foot with out fail, Josh who has taken over is doing the most incredible job, walking into the overdraft is like walking into a family! The cocktails are 10/10 , the beers are next level! You won’t find better! Wine is chefs kiss!!! My favourite place ever!
Definitely one of the top ten pubs in London. Would highly recommend to anyone on holiday. Excellent selection of continental beers. Chairs are so comfortable, you could sit there from 11am to 11pm. Really convenient location, about ten bookies within a 5 mins walk. Good pakora & samosa shop there. Lot's of cash and carry nearby to buy curry leaves and fresh chillies, & then come here after for a quick 3 pints

❤️ A low key locals pub.
.
The Overdraft Tavern is located at the top end of East Ham High Street and just a stone’s throw away from Plashet Park. East Ham Tube is a couple of doors down the street.
.
The building was built in 1909 and was a Barclays Bank for many years until it’s conversion to a pub.
.
The decor here is modern and pretty sterile with limited features to engage you with the pub. There’s a pool table and a few screens showing live sport. For the majority of my visit the lights were off and the ambiance low key.
.
The beer line up was simple, they did have Kingfisher which is rare to see apart from in a curry house. I had a pint of Heineken, my pint was decent and reasonably priced.
.
As mentioned earlier there was a low key vibe here and not much atmosphere. There were a few punters in attendance, one fella was pumping the fruit machine, a couple of fellas were looking on ready to try and win what he had put in when he walked away. There was a cultured older gentleman holding court at the bar, he was explaining about Oliver Cromwells part in history and his legacy which received mixed responses. Just after he left someone out the back started up an angle-grinder, you couldn’t make it up and I had a little chuckle to myself as the once quiet bar was filled with noise of someone grinding the hell out of something out the back. Eventually the lights came on and I downed my pint and did the off.
.
The Overdraft Tavern wasn’t my cup of tea and was very disappointing. The price point and the live sport were a plus but I struggled to find any other redeeming features here. I’ve read other reviews which are more favourable than mine, so I may have visited on an off day.

A simply unassuming pub located close to East Ham station. Good keg beers on offer but sadly nothing for the Real Ale drinkers. Fine, fast friendly service at the bar. A fine place for a pint.
Well maintained local pub. Next to the East Ham station. 🚉
Covid-19 protection measured maintained.
Tables are well enough distanced.
There is a pool table . ☺️
Excellent Customer Service. 😍
There is happy hour price too. But not much attractive. 😞.
Overall its a good local place to enjoy your drink after a long day coming out off the station.
