About This Pub
Ah, the Royal Oak – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot every time you step through the door. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the food is a real winner; think mouthwatering chicken dishes and those Sunday roasts that are packed with flavour and presented beautifully – it's no wonder people rave about it. The staff are an absolute delight, always cheerful and ready to help, whether it's suggesting a top-notch cocktail or keeping an eye on your furry friend. It's got that perfect blend of traditional pub charm with a welcoming feel, ideal for a quiet pint by the fire or a lively gathering in the garden when the weather's on your side. On the flip side, do keep in mind that the kitchen wraps up relatively early some nights, so it's best for earlier visits if you're peckish. And while the prices are fair for what you get, it might stretch the budget a tad if you're planning a full evening out. All in all, it's a gem in London that's worth checking out for a proper good time with friends.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with standout dishes like their freshly spit-roasted chicken and brilliant Sunday roasts that leave you wanting more.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile with great recommendations and making everyone feel right at home.
-
It's got a really cosy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates, complete with roaring fires in winter and a lovely garden for sunnier days.
-
Dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, which makes it a brilliant spot for families or anyone with mobility needs.
-
They've got a cracking selection of locally brewed beers, cocktails, and wines, plus options for private hire and regular events to keep things lively.
Cons
-
The kitchen closes a bit early on some evenings, so if you're after a late-night bite, you might need to plan ahead.
-
Prices are on the moderate side, which could add up if you're out for a big group session, though it's worth it for the quality.

Food is delicious, cocktail was BANGING, staff are friendly and helpful. The pub itself if cosy and lovely- will def be back 🩷
Always a lovely time here- great feel and vibe. Staff are SO friendly and kind. Never feel rushed even when they are busy. Food always nice. A special shout out to Mete for great recommendations, being super lovely and looking after our four legged family member.
Have visited several pubs in UK but this one is hands down consistently been my favorite thus far. The drinks (guest beers from local Rivertown brewery are always fab) and shaken tales of the cock (cocktails) so fine, the menus of food (especially the brilliant Sunday Roast!) replete, reasonable and always fresh. (rotisserie chicken is the bomb!) Chefs kiss level lovely. The staff is on point & very friendly, (especially delightful for the solo nomad) and the myriad entertainment we’ve attended is quite remarkably well curated! Applause!! Community vibes with comfortable & at home atmosphere. Has been a respite away from the roam. Can highly recommend to any and all seeking a proper pub experience or a good vibe, day or night.
What a lovely pub. It’s massive!

Car park available. Family friendly, wheelchairs/buggies accessible.
I had lunch with my daughter today and we shared a few starters. The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent. Well done to the cook Freddy for such tasty food. So much thought and care was taken with the presentation and everything was cooked just right. Definitely will visit again.
