Burton is a town world renowned for fine ales, and being the Brewing Capital, you’d reckon just about every pub in the town would be A*, S-tier, 10/10, a standout pub.
Well, out of all the pubs in the town, this is by no means an awful pub, for the pint was decent, price on it was ok, and the staff weren’t horrible like you’d expect from someone writing a one star review, but it’s just the vibe and appearance of the place.
“Family beer garden”? That’s not really that well earned, for the beer garden in question to the rear of the pub looks like the last place you’d be comfortable in the evening having a pint. Holes in the fence, cigs everywhere, the noisy rumble of traffic on the A38 flyover so close nearby, it’s not exactly scenic, and more akin to bloody Detroit!
All in all, again, not really a truly awful pub, but it’s not a picturesque place to enjoy a pint, decent enough if you just fancy a boozer’s pub and nothing much more, hence the 3 stars.
I don’t mean for this review to be scathing or offend the pub owners or anything like that, I’m just keen as a lover of good ale, to point out things that could be remedied to make this a good pub if not a great pub! 😊
