About This Pub

You know, I've been looking into the Royal Inn on the Park, and it's one of those places that really captures the heart of a classic London pub – right there on the edge of Victoria Park, it's got this inviting mix of spacious charm and cosy nooks that make you want to settle in for the afternoon. From what people are saying, the food is a real highlight; those roasts, in particular, sound mouthwatering, with generous portions and flavours that keep drawing folks back. The staff are genuinely friendly, adding to that home-from-home feel, and it's ace for families or if you're with your dog, as they're made to feel welcome. On the upside, there's a cracking selection of drinks to enjoy while soaking in the atmosphere. But, let's be honest, it isn't perfect – it can get absolutely packed, which means queuing at the bar and no table service when it's heaving, and occasionally, like with that less-than-stellar Sunday roast, things might not live up to expectations. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for a bite and a chat, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just maybe aim for a quieter time to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location right by Victoria Park is absolutely spot on – it's a lovely spot for a stroll and then popping in for a drink or meal.
  • The food is generally fantastic, with generous portions and standout dishes like those incredible roast potatoes that folks can't stop raving about.
  • Service is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home, even when the place is buzzing.
  • It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with little ones or your furry mate.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks and a cosy yet spacious atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding with mates.
Cons
  • It can get incredibly busy, especially on popular days, which means you'll likely face queues at the bar and no table service.
  • Food quality might vary; some visits are top-notch, but others, like that disappointing Sunday roast, can fall a bit flat.
  • With the crowds, it might not always feel as relaxed as you'd hope, particularly if you're after a quiet catch-up.

Lovely pub in Victoria Park. Great selection of food and all very tasty and good portion sizes. Service staff are very friendly and even though the pub was rammed we were served in good time. Have been a few ties now and would go again.

Always driven past this pub and wondered what it’s like inside: and now I can tell you that it’s lovely! Great outdoor spaces, family feel inside, big offering of drinks!

Our server John was lovely and welcoming, the roast potatoes were to die for!! Best roasties in London I’ve ever had at a pub roast! Defo recommend, the veggie roast and chicken roast were very yummy! Thanks :)

We had Sunday roast today and unfortunately it was not one of their best ones. The red cabbage tasted a bit like wine and the roast was average. I do hope they look into it and that it was just a bad day.

This is a lovely pub but much better on a quieter day. We came on a day that was way too busy. But the food in here is decent, the surroundings are lovely as you're in the park itself. It's dog friendly. But beware because of the crowds, it is a queue at the bar system, no table service. Which is fine, but just be aware of this before coming. I have been coming here for over 20 years and have seen the changes in this area and this pub. But I will always visit when I'm in the area as for me it's a part of my Eastend history.
