About This Pub

Ah, Rough Hands Tap – it's one of those little gems in Wrexham that really hits the spot if you're a fan of cracking craft beers and a good old chinwag. From what I've gathered, they've got an impressive lineup of hand-pulled ales and brews from smaller outfits, all tasting fresh and full of flavour, which makes it a go-to for anyone wanting something a bit special beyond the usual pub fare. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a laugh and happy to recommend a pint that'll suit your mood, adding that personal touch that makes you feel right at home. And let's not forget the events; whether it's an open mic night or a spoken word session, there's often something on to liven things up and bring the community together. On the downside, it does tend to be on the quieter side sometimes, which is a shame as it could do with a few more folks to really get the energy flowing – almost like it's waiting for more people to discover it. Plus, with hours mainly from Thursday to Sunday, you might need to plan around that if you're not in the area on those days. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up over a quality drink, but if you're after a more vibrant scene, it might not quite fit the bill. Worth popping in if you're nearby, though – you might just find your new favourite spot!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of craft beers and ales that's a real standout in Wrexham, with fresh options from small breweries that cater to all tastes.
  • Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who make every visit feel warm and welcoming, always ready for a good natter.
  • Lively events like open mic nights and spoken word sessions that add a bit of excitement and community spirit to the place.
  • A relaxed, community-focused vibe that's perfect for enjoying a pint or a coffee in a laid-back setting.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit quiet at times, which might not create the bustling atmosphere some folks crave for a proper pub night out.
  • Opening hours are mostly limited to Thursdays through Sundays, so it's not ideal if you're looking for a mid-week spot.
  • No phone number listed, which makes it a tad tricky to get in touch if you need to check on anything beforehand.

Always a good selection of hand pulled ales, which are a class above anywhere else in town. Lots of other drinks available too if you are not into real ale. We've always had a warm welcome and enjoy stopping off there - shame more people don't call in, it would create a busier atmosphere. Use it or lose it......

Lovely little micro bar just off Queens Square in Wrexham. Was here with Radio WigWam for Focus Wales. Really friendly staff and a great selection of quality small brewery beers, including a really good low alcohol IPA. Highly Recommended. Will be back soon.

Deserves higher than 5 star. This quirky craft ale and coffee shop is the real deal. Absolutely amazing beers that all taste fresh from the keg and amazing selection of cans and bottles. Andy(owner) behind the bar has a banging sense of humour, banging taste in beers, and is a banging conversationalist. Andy is the reason my misses is going mad at me saying banging all the time..... One of those places where you feel lucky to be there! Banging!

Nice craft beer pub, lots of flavours to choose from. This place hosted paint and sip evening from the Art Mixer where I enjoyed painting and drinking beer.
