About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about the Rose & Crown – it's one of those classic country pubs in Hertfordshire that just hits the spot for a laid-back day out. I love how they've nailed the food side of things; everything's made with top-notch, local ingredients, from pizzas and salads to those mouth-watering mains like pork belly or fish and chips. It's all so fresh and flavoursome, and they've got options for the kids too, which is brilliant if you're out with family. The staff really make the place shine – they're friendly and attentive, like that server Elise who got rave reviews for her kindness. Plus, the setting is just lovely, with its cosy interiors and that garden area that's perfect for soaking up the sunshine with a cold drink in hand. But, and I have to be straight with you, it's not flawless; I've heard a few tales of service being a bit sluggish, even on quieter days, and sometimes the cooking doesn't quite hit the mark, like when a main comes out overdone. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a good pub crawl or a meal with mates – you'd probably have a great time, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan for a relaxed pace.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – think fresh, locally sourced ingredients making everything from hearty burgers to scrumptious roasts, and they've even got a menu that'll keep the little ones happy.
-
The staff are a real delight; they're welcoming and full of energy, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got such a lovely atmosphere with beautiful interiors and a cracking garden space – perfect for enjoying a pint or a meal al fresco when the sun's out.
-
Being smack in the heart of picturesque Kings Langley, it's an ideal spot for a relaxed country pub experience without straying too far from the high street.
Cons
-
Service can drag on a bit sometimes, like waiting ages for dessert even when things aren't too hectic, which might leave you a tad frustrated.
-
There have been a few slip-ups with food prep, such as mains coming out overcooked, which is a shame when the rest is so good.
-
It's a bit quiet on the ambiance front; could do with some background music to make the vibe a little more lively and engaging.

We had a lovely experience & meal today being served by Elise, who was wonderful & served with kindness & a great energy. We’d go back for the amazing food, but especially for her.
Starter done perfectly, main meat was a bit over done, took more than 30 mins for dessert.
Not busy at all, still took a long time
Thank you to Amelie! Very helpful and friendly! Will definitely come again!
I've never visited here before but will certainly do so again. Lunch date with a friend, friendly staff, great food.
Could do with a bit of background music but we had a lovely lunch date.
The first time here, the roast dinner was very yummy, very filling! Was a bit odd how I got a rectangular plate (which there was a little space to move my food), and my friend had a circular plate. But I always need to have a dessert and a cuppa tea after the big meal!! All staff were welcoming and lovely people.
