About This Pub

Ah, The Red Lion in Nash Mills – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a cosy spot to unwind with mates or the family. I've got to say, the food really shines through; their traditional pub grub and Sunday roasts are spot-on and won't break the bank, making it a go-to for a hearty meal. The outdoor area is brilliant too, especially in the summer with that big garden, bouncy castle, and playground – it's ideal if you're out with kids and want everyone to have a good time. Plus, they've got a fully stocked bar and events like disco nights that add a fun vibe for a night out. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; some reviews mention dodgy food on certain days, and the service can be hit or miss, like when they don't quite handle complaints well. Still, with a solid reputation overall, I'd reckon it's worth popping in for a pint and a bite – just keep your expectations balanced and maybe check their website first for the latest on events or menus. All in all, it's a proper local gem with its ups and downs, but that's what makes it feel real.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is generally excellent, with traditional pub classics and tasty Sunday roasts that offer great value for money.
  • Friendly staff who make you feel right at home, always ready with a smile and helpful advice.
  • It's a fantastic spot for families, boasting a large garden with a bouncy castle and playground – perfect for keeping the little ones entertained while you relax.
  • Lovely outdoor seating area that's an absolute treat on sunny days, making it feel like a proper getaway.
  • They host fun events like soul and disco nights, plus functions and charity events, adding a lively buzz to the place.
Cons
  • Food quality can sometimes fall short, as a few folks have had disappointing meals that didn't live up to expectations.
  • Service isn't always spot-on; there have been instances where complaints were met with a shrug rather than a fix, which can leave a sour taste.
  • The operating hours might feel a bit inconsistent based on the listings, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

Went here for a roast with the family on Sunday. I can genuinely say the food was shocking. I understand everyone has an off day so when the guy came over and asked was everything ok with your meal and we said not really he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off, bad service, bad food.

Just call the pub to find out what's going on or check out the website for more information. Big shout out to all the staff,Emma (landlady) Rob (head bar-keep)& the other staff I can't remember. Nice pub, good beer 🍺🍻 & good food. Huge beer garden and very dog friendly. Canal boat friendly with the garden backing onto the canal at Nash mills lock 69

Well it's good outside. A pub is a pub nothing different there but does a few things you might want to know. A family place. Has a big lawn at the back and hence in summers a great place for parents who want a drink with their kids in sight. Just great. The pub puts up a bouncy castle on weekends. It has swings and other things kids can enjoy. If the inside was good enough I would have given a 5 star. Parking also is ok. Overall. Could handle a total of 20 cars or so. Overall great for a good time with kids. Some photos for your understanding.
