About This Pub
Ah, the Roebuck – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its timeless appeal and that jaw-dropping view over Richmond Hill, doesn't it? From what I've gathered, it's a real treat for anyone wanting a taste of traditional English hospitality without the fuss. The atmosphere is spot on, all warm and welcoming with a recent spruce-up that keeps things stylish yet cosy, and they've got a solid line-up of ales, wines, and even cocktails to keep everyone happy. The food's generally a winner too – think hearty pub classics like those brilliant fries and chicken escalope that folks rave about, plus breakfast options on Fridays through Sundays if you're an early riser. It's dog-friendly and has all the right touches for a relaxed day out. But let's be honest, it's not flawless; a couple of dishes, like the sticky toffee pudding, didn't quite hit the mark for some, coming across as just okay rather than memorable. And if you're hoping to snag a spot outside or upstairs, you might find them shut on off-peak times, which could put a damper on things. Overall, though, with a solid 4.4 rating from heaps of happy visitors, I'd say it's well worth a visit for a proper pub experience – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Cons
-
Some dishes, like the sticky toffee pudding, didn't quite impress and felt a bit underwhelming.
-
The food's solid pub fare but nothing extraordinary – a few items were just decent rather than standout.
-
Certain areas, such as upstairs or outdoors, might be closed on quieter days, which is a shame if you're after that full experience.
-
Opening hours can vary, and it might not always feel as lively if you're visiting midweek.

We were six people without reservation, anyway they managed to find a table for us. The atmosphere was really nice, the service was great! Food excellent, the fries were amazing, chicken escalope as well.
The only thing I didn’t like personally was the sticky toffee pudding as was served with melted cream instead of some ice cream, but the taste overall was good.
Really nice pub. Food was good. The interior had a lot of cute details. Good view at the river. If you want to go outside and enjoy the weather, they give you your drinks in a cup.
I visited The Roebuck in Richmond upon Thames on Monday and had a lovely pint of Aspall cider while sitting outside. The weather was perfect, and the stunning view from Richmond Hill made the experience even better—one of the best spots in London to enjoy a drink with a scenic backdrop.
The pub itself is charming and full of character, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind, whether you’re looking for a casual drink, a hearty meal, or just a peaceful moment taking in the breathtaking landscape. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Richmond!
Lovely pub with very cosy English vibes overlooking the river and Richmond hill. Enjoyed the fish and chips with beer and a lunch special of cheese toastie. Both were decent but nothing exceptional. The view outside, however, is really nice! Their upstairs and outdoors was closed during the week sadly.
Charming pub with stellar views outside. Had a great local, neighborhood feel……very welcoming. Food was great pub fare along with some rather unique options too. Love that dogs are so welcome too!!!!
