About This Pub
Ah, Roddy's Bar – it's one of those unpretentious neighbourhood spots that just feels like home, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this incredible community vibe where folks pop in for a chat and a pint, and the staff are usually bang on, making sure everyone's happy and sorted. The Guinness is a real highlight, poured perfectly, and it's brilliant for watching the footie or rugby without any distractions. Plus, being inexpensive means you can nip in for a quick one without worrying about the wallet. But, let's be fair, it's not for everyone – I've heard it can feel a tad unwelcoming if you're not a local or if you're visiting from abroad, and on certain nights, like events, the service might not be as cheerful as you'd hope. No food or pumping music means it's more about the simple pleasures, which is great if that's your thing, but it might leave you wanting more if you're after a fuller night out. All in all, if you're in South Ealing and fancy a genuine, down-to-earth pub experience, it's worth a try – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The community feel is spot on – it's like a proper local where everyone knows each other, making it a welcoming spot for regulars.
-
Staff are absolutely tremendous; they're friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure you're looked after, which really adds to the charm.
-
Guinness is poured just right, and it's a fantastic place to catch the football or rugby on the big screens – ideal for a relaxed game day.
-
It's inexpensive, so you can enjoy a pint without breaking the bank, and there's both inside and outside seating for a bit of variety.
-
The atmosphere is genuine and full of character, with a real mix of people from all walks of life, giving it that authentic pub vibe.
Cons
-
It might not feel as inviting for newcomers or those from outside the area, as some have mentioned it can come across as a bit cliquey.
-
Service can be hit or miss on busier nights, like special events, where it might not live up to the usual friendly standard.
-
There's no food on offer and it's pretty quiet without any loud music, which could disappoint if you're after a more lively or full-service experience.
-
Being a small spot, it can get cosy to the point of feeling cramped when it's busy, so space might be an issue at peak times.

Been my local for years it has a proper community feel to it as everyone knows each other, everyone is basically a Roddy's regular.
Mark&Sandra do a fantastic job behind the bar, very friendly and welcoming.
The Guinness is great 👍, awesome place to watch sport both football ⚽️ and rugby 🏉 atmosphere is great on a match day!
Cheapest pints in the area to be honest!
Also fantastic beer garden nice place to sit outside in summer.
Definitely worth a visit. 😀
Great Guinness, poured the way it should be.And of course price… lovely staff. What more can you ask for. Stanley likes it also 🐾
I had a pint of Guinness. The service and the atmosphere were excellent and people in the pub were extremely friendly. High recommendation from me.
Not a great experience. Went on St Patricks night. Guinness was average, can find far better pints locally. Bar staff were miserable and unwelcoming. They had advertised Irish dancers so that why I called in. There were two different sets turned up and on both occasions there was nothing in place for their music to be played. They were expecting them to bring their own speakers. The sound system is so old it can't be used by phones. The dancers still cracked in to their credit but the venue needs to up its game if it hopes to continue given the amount of good pubs within 15 mins walk.
I heard many good stories about this pub in Ealing and that it's the best local pub around. Can't complain about the friendliness of the staff. But the patrons give the pub a more red-neck feeling. As non-British people my girlfriend and I did not feel too confident to sip our beer inside
