About This Pub

Ah, Rock Salt – what a charming little spot in Crosby, Liverpool, isn't it? I had a great time there myself, and from what I've seen in the reviews, it's clear folks are chuffed with the place overall. The team behind the bar and in the kitchen are just top-notch; they're efficient, warm, and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates, whether you're popping in for a hearty brunch or a relaxed evening with pizzas and a pint. The food really hits the mark too – that Full English is a winner with fresh, local ingredients, and the drinks selection, including excellent Guinness, keeps things flowing nicely. It's brilliant for all sorts of occasions, from a quick coffee to hosting a birthday do in their function room. On the downside, though, it does fill up quickly, so you might find yourself in a queue or waiting a bit longer than expected, and there have been times when they've been out of certain dishes, which can put a dampener on things. Still, with its reasonable prices and that cosy, lively feel, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a good night out without the fuss – I'd say give it a go, but maybe aim for a quieter time if you can!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, efficient, and go out of their way to make your visit special, like that chap Bailey who handled a big birthday bash with ease.
  • The food and drinks are spot on; think superb Full English breakfasts, tasty pizzas, and top-quality Guinness that's freshly prepared and worth every penny.
  • It's got a lovely, lively atmosphere that's perfect for casual meet-ups, family outings, or even private events, with a cosy vibe that makes you feel right at home.
  • Great value for money overall, with reasonably priced options that cater to all tastes, from brunches and coffees by day to wines and beers in the evening.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, especially on weekends, which means you might end up waiting for a table or your food, so timing your visit is key.
  • Sometimes they run out of popular items, like that beef brisket, which can be a bit disappointing if you're set on something specific.
  • The food is reliably good but doesn't always wow you – it's more about solid, everyday enjoyment rather than anything truly extraordinary.

I had my 60th birthday bash in the function room. What can I say ,Bailey was amazing. We had him run off his feet but he was so friendly, efficient and nothing was any trouble for him. From start to finish everyone was amazing , jack and his team are second to none . We even went back the next day for breakfast , that was equally amazing . Thanks for making my birthday so special and going the extra mile to make sure everything went perfect

Had a lovely couple of hours here today. Service was quick and friendly. Drinks were excellent, including top-quality Guinness. Food is all freshly-prepared and was definitely worth the wait. The Chip Butty was so much more than just a chip butty! We also recommend the Steak & Eggs, the Poached Eggs with Avocado, Feta and Cherry Tomatoes and the Chicken Poke Bowl. Top notch, we'll be back!

We came here for a late lunch after walking down Crosby beach. I had the buffalo wings with fries which were really nice and decent portion. My partner ordered the beef brisket toastie but they were out of brisket so she had the proper toastie which was ham and cheese with proper pulled ham. Both meals were really nice. We both had a drink each and the bill was £28 would defo return They also do wine tasting days as well which sound really good will return for one of these.

Had a superb Full English here. The place is supplied by local vendors and all of the ingredients were spot on and cooked perfectly. Really nice cup of cappuccino as well. Friendly staff, really busy and lively atmosphere. Absolutely recommend this place. Will definitely be coming back for the black pudding alone.

Rock Salt is a great local spot on a main road through Crosby. Offering varied food, coffees and drinks, it has something for everyone. It does get busy, so bear this in mind, especially if visiting at the weekend. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Everything was priced reasonably, although it was a bit much to pay £2 extra for a single fried egg on top of the "proper toastie", which was literally just placed on top with minimal presentation (and it was green, although the staff explained this was because it was from grass fed / organic chickens). Some items are definitely better than others, as my wife LOVES the chip butty. The coffee tasted good, but the latte art was severely lacking (see photo). Staff are very friendly, highchairs are available, and there's parking on the street outside (though it's difficult to get). The decor is really nice and and it's a lovely place to be.
