About This Pub

Ah, Riverside East, tucked away in the heart of Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – it's one of those places that really tries to be the full package for a casual get-together or a special occasion. I have to say, the food can be absolutely spot on when it's good; imagine tucking into a magnificent Sunday roast or a perfectly cooked steak with all the trimmings, paired with a crisp craft beer or a frozen cocktail on that sunny rooftop terrace – it's just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon with friends. The staff are gems too, always popping over to check if you're alright, which adds a warm, welcoming touch. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing; I've heard from a few who've had dodgy experiences, like brunch that looked more like a let-down than a treat, with portions that don't justify the price and dishes that haven't been cooked properly. And while the Sixes Cricket sounds like a laugh, it might feel a bit tight on space, so if you're after something more expansive, you could be in for a surprise. Overall, it's worth a visit if you're in the area and fancy a mix of dining and entertainment, but keep an eye out for those off days to make sure you get the best of it – I'd say go with an open mind and maybe check out the menus first to set your expectations right.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is a real highlight – think delicious roasts, tasty steaks, and creative dishes like Parmesan croquettes that leave you wanting more.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, especially if you're with the family or mates.
  • It's got a brilliant vibe with outdoor spaces like the riverside café bar and rooftop terrace, offering stunning views of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
  • Plenty of fun activities on offer, like Sixes Cricket, which is a great way to mix sport and socialising for a memorable day out.
  • They're all about events and offers, with weekly deals and a newsletter full of perks, making it easy to plan a return visit.
Cons
  • Some dishes don't quite hit the mark, like the brunch options that can be overpriced and poorly cooked – we've heard tales of burned tops and uncooked middles.
  • The cricket cages feel a bit cramped and underwhelming, which might disappoint if you're expecting a proper setup.
  • Staff can be tricky to track down, especially outside, so you might end up wandering around more than you'd like.
  • Recent experiences suggest things have slipped a tad, with a couple of lacklustre visits lowering the buzz.
  • The value for money isn't always spot on, as a few folks have mentioned paying a premium for meals that don't live up to the hype.

This place was very underwhelming. When you arrive, go to the bar and ask someone about the cages cause the staff is hard to find outside. The staff were friendly. Youngish vibe The cricket cages are small it kind of reminds me of the glass cage in you, if you know you know. You could open the glass door to get some air in if needed, as it was hot outside. We had it open, but I am curious what it would be like in the winter. When we arrived, we missed out on the food as the kitchen was closed, but opposite, you could still get some food, a nice-sized pizza for 12 pounds. It costs around 12 something per person, which is good if you're on a budget. Would I go again Meh

The quality/price ratio is pretty bad, I went there for brunch and spent more than £12 for literally a £1 worth of food (see pic). While the "Bacon Benny" was a delusion but good, the Brulee French Toast wasn't even cooked properly, it was burned at the top and uncooked in the middle. The atmosphere is quite nice and cosy but it's totally not worth spending 💰 for the food they serve.

We enjoyed a delicious roast with bottomless fizz and unlimited Yorkshire puddings here today. Moni who was our server was lovely, very attentive and great with the kids. Moni and Nick the manager were always making sure that we we were ok and asking if we needed anything else. The food was delicious. Myself and two children had the roast chicken and my husband had the roast beef. Everything was cooked to perfection and the Yorkshire puddings were huge! The restaurant itself was bright, airy and clean. It wasn't too busy which suited us perfectly. The toilets were clean too which is always a plus. We enjoyed our first visit to Riverside East and will definitely come back here to eat next time we are in the area.

Best roast in Stratford! Came here on Sunday and had the beef Sunday roast and it was magnificent. We also had a wonderful server who made the whole meal a delight. Glad this venue is open and will definitely add it to our local rotation!

We had such a delicious dinner here! Everything was a delight, from the Parmesan croquettes to the perfectly cooked steak with peppercorn sauce, and finishing with the zero-waste bread and butter pudding. The staff were all super friendly too. I can’t wait to come back for a weekend brunch or roast!
