You know, I had a right lovely time at Rickerby Retreat the other week – it's one of those places that just makes you feel a bit special without trying too hard. The food is spot on, like those deli platters and cocktails that folks rave about, and sitting on the rooftop terrace with the river in view is just brilliant, especially on a sunny day. The staff are dead helpful too, always on hand to sort you out, which really adds to the relaxed vibe. It's got that high-end quirkiness that's perfect if you're in the mood for a chilled afternoon or evening, and if you fancy a spa treatment alongside, well, that's the cherry on top. On the downside, it's not the cheapest spot, so you might want to save it for when you're feeling flush, and it does lean more towards a sophisticated bistro feel rather than a bustling pub scene. All in all, if you're after a place to unwind with mates over good grub and drinks, it's well worth a go, but just keep in mind it might not be your everyday local haunt.
