About This Pub

You know, when I think about Premier Inn Carlisle Central, it's got that reliable, no-fuss charm that makes for a great base if you're popping in for a meal or a drink and need a place to crash. The staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick to sort out any little requests, which really adds to the welcoming feel. The rooms are clean as a whistle, with those powerful showers that leave you feeling refreshed – and don't forget the free Wi-Fi and parking, which are spot on for keeping things easy. The Brewer Fayre next door serves up solid pub fare and breakfast with some nice vegan options, so it's a handy spot if you're after something straightforward and tasty. On the flip side, it's a bit misleading calling it 'central' because it's a solid 20 to 30-minute walk from the actual city centre, which could be a drag if you're keen on hopping between pubs or exploring the sights without much effort. Plus, there was that one hiccup with breakfast bookings that sounded a bit frustrating, so it pays to double-check. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed visit, but if you're after a more lively pub scene right on the doorstep, you might want to weigh up the location first – still, I'd say it's worth a go for the comforts it offers.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
  • Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, with powerful showers that are a real treat after a long day exploring.
  • Free Wi-Fi and parking are a nice bonus, perfect if you're driving in for a night out or a meal.
  • Breakfast has plenty of options, including vegan choices, so there's something for everyone to start the day off well.
  • It's linked to a Brewer Fayre restaurant and bar next door, offering straightforward pub grub and a relaxed atmosphere for a pint or a bite.
Cons
  • It's not quite in the heart of Carlisle city centre as the name suggests – expect a good 20 to 30-minute walk to get to the main shops, castle, and buzzier spots, which might not suit everyone.
  • There can be a bit of hassle with booking tables for breakfast or meals, as one experience showed it wasn't seamless, potentially putting a dampener on things.
  • While the facilities are solid, it feels more like a reliable hotel setup than a lively pub venue, so if you're after a vibrant atmosphere, it might fall a tad short.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times as it has everything we need. It’s close enough for us to walk into the centre of town but does take around 30 minutes. Staff are helpful and friendly, room was spotless and the shower was the best I have ever had. So powerful! Breakfast had plenty of vegan options which is often rare.

Everything you expect from Premier inn. Clean and comfortable. Brewer fayre next door so restaurant and bar available. Only thing i would say is although its named Carlisle central, its actually a good 20 min walk to the centre. Not a problem for me but could be for some.

Had a great stay whilst staying for work. All the staff from reception to the cleaners were so friendly and helpful especially Denise and Jenny. Denise was very helpful getting me extra towels, coffee pods & water & even took the time to have a quick chat. The hotel was lovely & clean. Will definitely stay here again.

Such a shame as the hotel did a great job. Unfortunately they are linked to the pub which is shocking. The cross over comes when you have ordered breakfast. I had already ‘booked’ and paid for breakfast so when I told the guy this he said “we’ll have you also booked a table?” No I said, just paid for breakfast “well there are two things you need to do, I may not be able to get you seated!” Loads of spare seats and no problem at all. One of the other staff said “I don’t know why he does that, sorry” Just badly reflects on the whole place.
