About This Pub
Ah, the Railway Inn Rhosddu, what a gem of a place in Wrexham! From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this genuine, down-to-earth charm that really hits the spot. Folks rave about the welcoming atmosphere and the top-notch staff who make you feel right at home, whether you're there for a quick drink or to catch a match. It's especially brilliant for sports enthusiasts, with live screenings and activities like darts, pool, and even a Sunday quiz that sounds like a right laugh. The beers are spot on, and if you're lucky, you might snag a fresh sandwich to go with it – all at prices that won't sting your wallet. On the flip side, it's a smaller venue, so it can fill up quickly and feel a bit squished on peak nights, and the food selection doesn't go much beyond those sandwiches, which might leave you wanting more if you're after a proper bite. Plus, it's tucked away a little, and the operating hours look a tad confusing, so planning ahead is key. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening; I'd say give it a try if you're in the area – you might just end up making it your go-to spot!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a proper local boozer with a warm, welcoming feel that makes you want to stay for another pint.
-
Friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home, whether you're popping in for a match day drink or just a casual visit.
-
Great for sports fans, with live showings and a lively vibe, especially around events like quizzes or games of darts and pool.
-
They serve up a solid pint of beers like Madri and Guinness, and there's even fresh sandwiches on offer most days if you're peckish.
-
It's affordably priced, so you won't break the bank for a good night out, and the open fire adds a cosy touch on chillier evenings.
Cons
-
It's not the biggest spot, so it can get a bit cosy – or crowded – during busier times, which might not suit everyone.
-
Food options are pretty limited; mainly just sandwiches, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
The location's a tad tucked away, which is fine if you're local, but it could be tricky to find if you're not familiar with Wrexham.
-
Operating hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, with varying times listed, so it's worth double-checking before you go.
-
No website means it's harder to get the latest info online, which is a shame in this digital age.

proper pub with great atmosphere and staff highly recommended for a match day pint or two
Not a huge pub but lovely friendly atmosphere. Went to the Sunday quiz which was a lot of fun.
Proper local boozer. Fresh sandwiches most days. Darts & pool, open fire, good pint of Madri & Guinness. Warm welcome
This place is a little tucked away but well worth going to if you are heading to the racecourse ground or just visiting Wrexham. It has indoor and outdoor seating showing live sports. The staff were very friendly and more than willing to be helpful.
There wasn’t a food offering per say other than baps on the bar, however there was a wide variety for both vegetarians and pescatarians as well as omnivores.
Prices are more than reasonable and there is parking opportunities opposite.
A pub I use to frequent a lot in the late 70s and 80s.
It's stood the test of time too.
A friendly atmosphere and welcome with great beers and Decor 👍
