About This Pub
Ah, Radio City Social – what a delightful spot it is in Chelmsford! From what I've gathered, it's really hit the mark with its focus on craft beers and live music, drawing in folks who appreciate a good pint and some rocking tunes. The beer taps are packed with an impressive variety, including their own brews and guests from all over, which makes it a treat for anyone wanting to try something new without breaking the bank at a moderate price point. The atmosphere sounds spot on too; it's inclusive and friendly, with live events that create a buzzing energy, and even a nod to families with kid-friendly music options. That said, it's not without its quirks – being closed on Mondays might put a damper on plans, and the hours can be a bit confusing, so you'd want to check ahead. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a casual outing, especially if you're tying it in with the other pubs around the station for a proper day out. I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; it's got that genuine, welcoming charm that makes you want to come back for more.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The craft beer selection is absolutely top-notch, with a fantastic range of brews from Radio City Beer Works and loads of guest options – perfect for anyone who loves exploring new flavours.
-
It's got a brilliant atmosphere with live rock and heavy metal music, making it a welcoming spot for music fans and even families, as one reviewer mentioned their little one enjoyed the tunes.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating that cosy, community feel that's just lovely for a night out.
-
Conveniently located near Chelmsford Railway Station, it's easy to pop in after a journey, and they've expanded the venue so there's plenty of space to sit and chat.
-
They've got inclusive options like alcohol-free choices and a little garden area, which adds a nice touch for those wanting something a bit different.
Cons
-
It's closed on Mondays, which can be a bit of a shame if you're planning a mid-week visit and fancy a pint.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent based on what's listed, so it might be worth double-checking before heading out to avoid any disappointment.
-
As it's geared towards craft beer and rock music enthusiasts, it might not appeal to everyone – if you're after a quiet wine bar or something more mainstream, this could feel a bit niche.

If you like great quality and varied beer choice make sure to visit. They've expanded the venue recently so no problem getting somewhere to sit!
A 'hidden gem' type place for beer people.
Tie it in nicely with the other pubs around the station area, thirst and the ale house for a small but boozy and friendly crawl that'll still take up the entire day.
Radio city beers are excellent anyway and they also have an inventive and wide range of guest craft too, plus some nice bar snacks.
Beers for takeaway and drink in available in the fridge too, again quite reasonably priced for most. Bar staff will happily talk you through beers if it's quiet (of course).
The new arch which is inside but also outside at the same time (come and have a look) is perfect for those who want to be outside, but where 'it is' and yet still feel (and hear) the trains overhead and be away from passers by.
The best part is the music and the very reasonable prices, especially for guest beers.
Friendly enough service, especially if you're the only one there on a weekday, bar staff are quite patient and still welcome the custom. This place deserves more customers like the other bars, maybe they should consider joining Untappd or a similar app?
Wow what a little hidden Gem. First visit and definately not the last. The best beer selection, the best service and most friendliest welcome. Loved the little garden bit too. Also good to finally have somewhere with decent music playing that even my three year old enjoyed. Made easter monday one of the best. Thanks guys.
Still the best craft beer bar in Chelmsford, with 18 taps, including beers from Radio City Beer Works. Conveniently located near Chelmsford Railway Station. Very inclusive and also some live music (usually rock/metal).
Just love it here! Chelmsford is lucky to have an alternative venue that is so inclusive.
Such a friendly, welcoming place to spend an evening and there's a great selection of alcohol free options too.
Live music nights are the highlight for me, such a brilliant atmosphere and everyone is just there to enjoy themselves and rock out! Honestly can't beat it
