About This Pub
Ah, the Pump House – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper Liverpool gem, tucked away in the heart of the Albert Dock. I have to say, the waterside setting is an absolute delight; imagine sipping on a pint while watching the boats go by, all in this beautifully restored old building from 1870 that still holds onto its industrial past. The atmosphere is spot on for a casual catch-up – relaxed, welcoming, and with a beer garden to boot if the weather's playing nice. The food doesn't disappoint either; they've got cracking traditional dishes like crispy squid and chicken wings, and it's great to see options for everyone, whether you're after something veggie or just a solid pub classic. The staff really make it, always chipping in with a friendly chat and getting your order out promptly. On the flip side, it does get heaving at times, so you might end up queuing or squeezing into a spot, and the layout can be a bit maze-like, which adds character but isn't for everyone. All in all, it's a top spot for a laid-back afternoon or evening out, and I'd definitely recommend popping in if you're in the area – just go with the flow and you'll have a cracking time.

DOG FRIENDLY PUB
The Pump House is winning every time we're visiting Liverpool.
Great location, chill atmosphere, absolutely fantastic service and classic pub specialities.
Originally built in 1870, The Pump House was once a steam-powered hydraulic pumping station that played a vital role in the functioning of Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock. It powered the mechanisms that opened and closed the dock gates, and its impressive brick chimney is a remnant of its industrial past. The building has since been beautifully converted into a pub and restaurant, retaining many of its historic features.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to go inside and eat, but from the outside, The Pump House looks truly impressive. Its location by the water and the preserved architecture make it a striking landmark and a place we’d definitely like to visit next time.
The Pump House is a well-known dining establishment located in an historic setting that often features a picturesque view, such as near a river or harbor. It is renowned for its charming atmosphere, classic American cuisine, and often offers a menu that includes seafood, steaks, and other hearty fare. The restaurant may also have event spaces, making it a popular spot for special occasions and gatherings.
Popped to for a few drinks and a bite to eat before the Liverpool Northern light show. App was playing up but didn't spoil the experience. Fast friendly staff . Busy but found a table, strange layout but made it a it quirky. Good food.
Lovely building with friendly staff. A good choice of tables, ordered food at the bar and it arrived quickly. Lovely crispy Squid, Chicken Wings, Salad, Triple-cooked Chips & piping hot Coffee.
