About This Pub
Ah, Puckersley Inn – it's one of those pubs that really warms the cockles of your heart, tucked away in Royton with a solid 4.5 rating that speaks volumes about what they're getting right. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a real highlight; think succulent roasts and filling mains like gammon steak or shepherd's pie, all at a fair price that doesn't break the bank – it's proper value for a Sunday treat. The staff come across as genuinely caring sorts, always with a smile and ready to sort you out, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or a full meal. And it's brilliant that they've made it dog-friendly, so you can bring the pooch along for the fun. On the flip side, though, it's not all perfect roses; a few folks have mentioned that the food can sometimes fall short, like when the veggies are a bit tough or the meat looks pale and underdone, which is a shame after seeing those tempting photos online. Plus, it's popular enough that you might need to book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's a cracking spot for a get-together with friends or family, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a grand time – it's got that homely pub charm that's hard to beat.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with standout dishes like the Sunday roast and gammon steak that leave you wanting more – it's all about that hearty, tasty fare at a great price.
-
The staff are an absolute delight; they're friendly, attentive, and go the extra mile to make sure you're looked after, just like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
-
It's a welcoming spot for everyone, including your furry friends, making it perfect for a relaxed outing with the dog in tow.
-
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, ideal for a proper pub experience where you can unwind and enjoy a pint or a glass of wine without any fuss.
Cons
-
Food quality can be a bit hit or miss at times, like when the veggies turn out a tad undercooked or the meat doesn't quite live up to the hype from those glossy online pics.
-
It's wise to book ahead, as tables can fill up quickly, which might leave you out in the cold if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit.
-
While most experiences are top-notch, there might be the odd occasion where service feels a smidge stretched, especially during busier times.

Great place but you need to book to guarantee a table! The set menu on a Sunday was 21.50 for 3 courses which is a total bargain for a tasty roast.
Wanted a last minute dog friendly pub. Phoned and booked into the tap room. The service was exceptional, beer spot on. Wine at a reasonable price. I had the gammon steak and it was lovely and filling, missus had the shepards pie and yes I knocked some off her and that too was lovely. The pooch enjoyed the gravy bones yumyum. I will be back here again.

Absolutely love coming here all the staff are so friendly and the food is to die for! Roshin is lovely and so considerate. She was amazing and always made sure that we had what we needed! Absolute 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back again! Food is always to a good standard and is presented so well😍
Took my aunt for a birthday meal and was sadly a little bit disappointed. Waiting staff were lovely and working hard . The mains just seemed a little under par from the gastro pictures I'd seen online . My aunty left her veggy fries because they were hard and her meat seamed a but anemic, it was lamb and the fat on the side was like still clear , not soft and falling apart id say under done tbh . I dunno nothing awful just not really was I expected from the pics. Dessert and coffee was lovely standard . Probably won't rush back tbh .
