About This Pub

Ah, the Prince Frederick – it's one of those unpretentious British pubs that just draws you in for a proper pint and a chat. From the reviews, it's clear folks love the welcoming atmosphere; it's got that cosy, community feel where you can settle into a snug corner or catch the game without it being overwhelming. The staff come across as genuinely helpful and attentive, and the beers are well-kept, which is always a win for a good night out. Plus, being dog-friendly means it's perfect if you're out and about with your pet. On the downside, it's a shame they don't serve any food, so you might have to plan ahead if hunger strikes. And while the new bar team are capable, they could do with injecting a bit more charm to make interactions even more memorable. All in all, it's a reliable spot for a traditional pub experience, especially if you're local and after something straightforward and enjoyable.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it feel like a proper community hub for a relaxing pint.
  • Staff are friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and good service to make you feel at home.
  • They serve well-kept Greene King beers that hit the spot every time.
  • It's dog-friendly, so you can pop in with your four-legged mate after a walk.
  • A great spot for watching sports on the TVs or enjoying a quiet natter in the cosy corners.
Cons
  • No food is served, so you'll need to head elsewhere if you're after a meal with your drink.
  • Some of the newer bar staff could use a bit more personality to really liven up the experience.
  • It's tucked away a bit, which might make it less convenient if you're not in the local area.

It's a local pub, for locals to enjoy a quiet drink, watch the sports on TV and have a game of darts... No food served here. But an authentic British boozer! Be sure to participate in the raffles and other charity promotions they offer.

My husband and I popped in for one drink but ended up staying the night. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and Woody who served us a couple of times was very attentive and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic pub off the beaten track. This pub has a friendly, calm atmosphere. The Staff are pleasant and helpful, the beer is well kept (Green King). The interior is comfortable with plenty of snug corners for a quiet natter. There are sports TVs dotted around but the sound is not obtrusive. The toilets are smart and clean. All in all very lovely experience.
