About This Pub
Ah, the Prairie Schooner Taphouse – it's one of those places that really warms your heart as soon as you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the beer selection; they've got four hand pumps with ever-changing real ales from brilliant local brewers like Brightside and Cloudwater, plus craft taps and even some fine wines and spirits from the North West. It's earned some serious accolades too, like being named LocAle Branch Pub of the Year twice and featuring in the Good Beer Guide multiple times, which just shows how much it's loved in the community. The atmosphere is spot on for a good natter – think peaceful and inviting, with events like weekly quizzes and live music nights that keep things lively but not overwhelming. Staff are always up for a chat and make you feel welcome, which is just what you want after a long day. On the flip side, if you're hoping for a full meal, it's mostly snacks on offer, so you might end up a tad peckish. And while the draft beers are good, one or two have mentioned it's not the most extensive, so it might not blow your mind if you're a real ale aficionado seeking endless options. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone in the area looking for quality drinks and a genuine, friendly spot to unwind – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby, but keep those expectations balanced for the best experience.
Pros and Cons

Fantastic selection of craft beers and real ales, especially from local Manchester brewers, making it a top spot for beer enthusiasts.
-
Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with no loud music or sports TV, perfect for a chilled chat with mates.
-
Friendly staff who make you feel right at home, and they've got a great range of gins, whiskies, and other drinks too.
-
Regular events like quizzes, live music, and tastings add a fun vibe without overwhelming the place.
-
Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options, so you can enjoy a pint whatever the weather.
Cons
-
Food options are limited to just snacks, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
The draft selection might not be as extensive as you'd expect for a craft beer spot, based on some feedback.
-
It's a bit out of the way unless you're in Urmston, so it could be a trek if you're coming from further afield in Manchester.

Has a very varied and comprehensive selection of beers, with seating inside and out to suit the weather!
Food is just snacks as far as I'm aware but good range of different ones...Good beer.
After a couple of disappointing places Boothroyd spotted this bar. A good real destination with four handpumped real ales. Had the Marble brewery best Manchester bitter. Surprisingly large bar with a good sized room beyond the central bar. Some pavement seating to the front. Deems popular with families and dog owners. Big craft beer selection in the fridges. One "does everyone" toilet.
Love the Schooner. Beautiful atmosphere and very friendly staff peeps. Selection of beers is fantastic. Plus good for quality gins and whisky too. Highly recommended.
Nice small bar, friendly staff. Not a lot on draft for a craft beer place but enough. Worth a trip but only if your in the area.
