About This Pub
Ah, The Tim Bobbin – it's one of those Wetherspoon pubs that you pop into for a quick, no-fuss pint or a hearty breakfast, and I have to say, it's got that charm going for it in Urmston. The prices are spot on for keeping things affordable, and they've nailed the beer selection with some real gems, plus those little discounts make it even more appealing if you're into your ales. The breakfasts are a winner too – tasty and wallet-friendly – and with a nice beer garden and easy parking, it's dead convenient, especially if you're nipping in after browsing the nearby shops. On the flip side, though, it can turn into a bit of a madhouse when it's busy, with queues snaking around and not enough staff to keep up, which might put a dampener on your visit. A few mates have grumbled about smaller portions or the lack of options for dietary preferences, like no brown bread, so it's not perfect for everyone. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual catch-up or a cheap night out, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations – it's got the Wetherspoon magic, just with a few rough edges that keep it from being the best in the bunch.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's a classic Wetherspoon spot with really affordable prices, making it perfect for a budget-friendly pint or meal without breaking the bank.
-
They've got a great selection of beers, including real ales with discounts like the 50p CAMRA voucher, which is a nice touch for ale enthusiasts.
-
The breakfasts are spot on – cheap, good quality, and just what you need to start the day, plus there's plenty of seating inside and a lovely beer garden out the back for when the weather's nice.
-
Location is spot on too, right near some great shops for vinyl, books, and board games, with easy roadside parking for up to two hours.
-
The layout is accessible and welcoming, and from what I've heard, the staff are generally friendly and on top of things like keeping the hot drinks machine stocked.
Cons
-
It can get absolutely packed, especially on busy days, leading to long waits at the bar and sometimes only one or two staff trying to handle everything.
-
Portion sizes on the food might leave you wanting more – a few folks have mentioned they're a bit on the small side.
-
Dietary options are a bit limited; for instance, no wholemeal bread, which is a shame if you're watching what you eat or have specific needs.
-
Service can be hit or miss; ordering via the app is handy, but you might still end up queuing or waiting ages, and it's not always the most efficient.
-
Overall, it's not the top Wetherspoon in the area for everyone – some find it just okay compared to others around Manchester.

One of the best Wetherspoons, accessible layout, convenient for national retailers and niche shops (vinyl bought and sold; books and board games store, etc) and, in my experience, everything as it should be - including hot drinks machine topped up
Good breakfasts that are cheap and good quality.
Great selection of beers and all the staff are great.
Plenty of seating inside and nice beer garden out the back. Plenty of roadside parking for upto 2 hours.
There was no wholemeal/brown bread as I can't eat white bread because of my dietary needs. I know they do GF bread but don't like the taste of the one they do as I've tried it before. Portion sizes could have been better as I found them to be bit on the smaller size, and they rewarmed my beans as they were cold instead of giving me fresh ones.
Only been here once before but first visit with Boothroyd. Set in an old cinema building. Very busy on this Saturday afternoon with a rugby scrum at the bar. Usual great value and 50p CAMRA voucher discount on a pint of real ale. A good 4% Purple Moose brewery Amber ale. Just too busy for me today.
This one wasn't my favourite spoons out of all the others in Manchester and Greater Manchester that I've visited. Service would have been better if there were more than two, and sometimes one serving.
I ordered off the app and had to go up to the bar to collect due to the long wait.
Good atmosphere in here, nevertheless.
