About This Pub
Ah, the Fisherman – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, tucked away in Fishers Green and part of the McMullen family since 2022. I have to say, what really stands out is the emphasis on delicious grub, like their freshly spit-roasted chicken and steaks, paired with locally crafted beers and cocktails that go down a treat, especially when you're settled in by the roaring fire or out in the garden on a sunny day. The team there are an absolute delight, always cheerful and on point, whether you're just nipping in for happy hour or planning something bigger like a birthday bash in their function rooms. It's got that welcoming, community feel with plenty of space for groups, and being dog-friendly and accessible adds to the charm. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few grumbles about the new menu not living up to the old one – things like the nachos being a bit disappointing and dry, which might put a dampener on your meal if you're set on starters. Overall, it's a solid spot for a bite and a bevvy, but I'd suggest checking in on the menu first to make sure it suits what you're after; it's got heaps of potential and generally leaves you with a smile.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially their rotisserie chicken and steaks – it's fresh, tasty, and great value for a casual meal out.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, always going the extra mile to make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a drink or hosting an event.
-
There's a brilliant variety of seating areas, from cosy spots by the fire to a lovely conservatory and garden, perfect for enjoying a pint alfresco when the weather's nice.
-
It's super dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, which makes it a welcoming choice for everyone, and they've got ample parking too.
-
They handle events brilliantly, with spaces for private hire that are ideal for birthdays or meetings, and the team is ace at accommodating requests.
Cons
-
Some folks have mentioned that the new menu isn't quite hitting the mark, like the nachos being a bit dry and not as flavoursome as before, which is a shame if you're after those starters.
-
It might feel a tad suburban and large, so if you're looking for a cosy, intimate vibe, it could come across as a bit overwhelming at times.

Large but welcoming suburban pub, with an emphasis on food (in particular rotisserie chicken and steaks). Lots of different seating areas, plus a conservatory and garden. Friendly and efficient staff. Good value for money.
I planned a surprise 30th birthday party at The Fisherman last weekend, and the staff could not have been more helpful! Scott and his team went above and beyond to help me make a truly memorable birthday party. They were great at accommodating all requests I had, and with a smile. We made use of the conservatory and garden and everyone was really happy - 5 stars, totally recommend 😁
This is our local and we love it here. Good vibes, good staff. Lovely dining room and good food/portions. Decently priced. Happy hour. Comfortable. Our favourite go to for a meal out!
Nice venue with attentive friendly staff. Food is OK too.
Today, I was very disappointed to learn about the new menu that, unfortunately, isn't as tasty as it used to be. We were coming here at least twice/month to enjoy the tasty nachos and everything else. Even if the service is great, the food on the new menu is bad: the new nachos were too dry, the sour cream had fish taste, the falafel was uncooked, the ribs had too much pepper, the brownie came in a plate that was smelling of iron. Really sad as this was my favourite restaurant in the area and was recommending every time I had a chance, but we won't come back!
