About This Pub

You know, when I think about Perry Hill Pub, it really stands out as one of those reliable locals that just gets it right most of the time. The food's a highlight – fresh, hearty options like their Sunday roasts or that £10 burger special that folks rave about, all served up with a smile and generous helpings that make you feel looked after. It's got this charming heated garden that's perfect for family dos or even a quiet drink, and being dog-friendly adds a nice touch for those who like to bring their furry companions along. The staff are genuinely accommodating, as I've heard from a few who've had seamless experiences with last-minute changes or kids' parties. On the flip side, it does tend to fill up quickly, so popping in on a whim might not always work out, and with prices sitting at a moderate level, it could feel a tad pricey for everyday visits rather than special occasions. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a warm, convivial spot to unwind with good company – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think generous portions of fresh, tasty dishes like Sunday roasts and burgers that leave you feeling well satisfied.
  • It's a proper family-friendly haven with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for gatherings, and they've got a heated garden area that's brilliant for events or just enjoying a pint with the dog in tow.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are welcoming and accommodating, making it easy to adjust bookings or celebrate special occasions without a hitch.
  • Lovely beer selection and a pleasant vibe with music that's just right – not overwhelming, so you can actually chat with your mates.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, especially for family events or on weekends, so you'll want to book ahead to secure a spot and avoid any disappointment.
  • With moderate prices, it might add up a bit if you're planning a larger get-together, though the value for what you get is generally worth it.

Booked a table of 3 for Sunday lunch. Rang the day before to increase the booking to 7 for a family gathering. Was accommodated without any problems. Staff and service very good. Food lovely and very generous portions. Nice relaxed atmosphere. We all ended up staying after lunch until 9pm!

Lovely garden, tasty food, served fast with a smile. Had cod sandwich—piping hot—10£ burger special (Monday / Tuesday). Chips expertly seasoned. Celeriac was on the menu and scrumptious. Tasty beers. Pleasant music not too loud. All good!

Had my sons 1st birthday in the garden tent and it was a great space for it. The 2 hour booking and food was just right for the small family gathering. The service was great I will highly recommend for anyone who needs a space for a couple hours to celebrate something. The garden area in general is a lovely space, will definitely be returning for a drink in the summer.

🚇Catford 🍺 £6.80 Harbour Arctic Sky IPA The Perry Hill Pub is located between Catford and Sydenham in southeast London. The nearest station is Catford (mainline). Originally known as The Two Brewers, this pub has a history dating back three hundred years. It began life as a ‘hedge tavern,’ serving travelers between Catford and Lower Sydenham. The building you see today was constructed in the interwar years. After closing in 2019, it was extensively refurbished and revived in 2021 as a family-friendly community pub. This is a good-sized pub with two adjoining rooms. At the front is the main bar area, which is set aside for drinkers. Toward the rear is a comfortable, split-level dining area. Behind the pub lies a vast beer garden, divided into a terrace, a deck, a covered section, and a children’s play area. The decor features some original interwar wall paneling, traditional furniture with comfy banquettes, a boarded floor, period fireplaces, and a few doggy artworks. The main bar also includes a shuffleboard, a dartboard, and a piano. The beer line-up is a broad mix of familiar favourites, independent brews, and one cask ale. I opted for a Harbour Arctic Sky IPA by @harbourbrewing —my pint was excellent, price point was a little high. The food menu features elevated gastro fare, along with a range of burgers and Sunday roasts. The pub also boasts a smoker in the garden for preparing tender cuts of meat. We arrived just after 12pm on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in May. The pub was fairly quiet inside and was busy in the garden with families with young children. The atmosphere was upbeat with a nice local pub feel around the place. The team on duty were great, they were chatty, friendly and very welcoming. I was very impressed with this pub. The beer selection, food options, original décor, and personable service made for an all-round excellent experience. The beer garden is also a big plus. Visiting @perryhillpub was thoroughly enjoyable—a must-visit if you’re in the area. 📅 10th May 2025 If you want to see all my pub reviews in one place, head to @londonpubmap on Instagram. 🍻

Had my husbands 40th here. It was simply perfect. The service was flawless, the food amazing. We were outside by the kids play area which was amazing for all the kids all ages! The atmosphere was amazing/friendly/relaxed and family orientated. Truly a great family oriented pub and great for big groups and special occasions. Many thanks it made an unforgettable birthday.
