About This Pub

Ah, the Pear Tree in Grimsby – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From the reviews, it's clear folks love the food; there's a vast menu with everything from pub classics to lighter bites and desserts, and it's all served up piping hot with plenty of options for the little ones or if you're watching what you eat. The staff really stand out too – they're super helpful and friendly, making sure you're looked after from the moment you arrive, whether you're booking online or ordering via QR code at the table. It's got that family-oriented charm with a children's play area and outdoor space, plus it's accessible for wheelchairs, which is always a plus for getting everyone together. On the downside, it can be a bit of a madhouse when it's busy, so you might have a short wait for a seat, and if you're not driving, that walk from the town centre is no joke. Still, with a cracking beer garden and a solid selection of drinks, it's worth the effort for a relaxed lunch or a cheeky evening out. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and a warm atmosphere, just pop in prepared for the crowds!

Cons
  • It can get really busy, so you might end up waiting for a table, even if the staff are polite about it.
  • If you're heading from the town centre, it's quite a walk to get there, which might not be ideal if you're not up for a trek.
  • There have been a few mentions of issues with handling food allergies, so it's worth checking in advance to avoid any disappointments.

Wheelchair accessible entrance and seating. Advise to book as very busy. There is a children's area and outside playground. We had a 15-minute wait for a table. We were seated while waiting. The host was polite and had us laughing while we waited. We placed our orders from the vast menu They also offer 2 for 1 meals, starters, and desserts. They have a specials menu which is change regularly . Good range of beers, ales, wines, and soft drinks. Plus hot drinks, the hot chocolate was great. We shared the sharing garlic bread with 6 pieces 2 cheese, 2 plain, and 2 with cheese and salsa. We had steak and chips, pie chips, and burgers with all the trimmings , sausage, and mash. It arrived quickly and was hot. I'm looking forward to returning. 13/05/25 We had a lovely visit today at 3 pm. The venue had a few people in. We choose a window table next to the outdoor seating area. The food was lovely. 😍

Very easy to book on line, very easy to order via the QR code on the table. Service was very quick, staff very helpful and friendly. Food was fantastic. Great atmosphere in the pub itself. Good menu with lots to choose from, will defiantly recommend to friends & family & will be calling in again next time we are in the area.

Whatever you do, do not walk here from the town centre, it is worth it at the end, but it's one heck of a walk. Pear Tree is like the tardis, does not look very big, but you may need a satnav to find your table if you go for a little walk🫢. Great welcome, a good selection of beers. The food was great, quick service, and hot when it arrived. Conor made us feel very welcome and gave us great advice on how to get back to the centre of town. Will definitely go back, by bus. A number 10 takes you right outside.

We went here on the 6th November 2024, as we entered we were asked if we had any allergies which was great as our 2 month old son has a dairy allergy and my partner is breastfeeding so she has to be dairy free. We asked the waitress what she can eat that is dairy free and she gave us a different menu and sad she can choose anything on there and the chef will make it dairy free which was great. She wrote down on the receipt there was a milk intolerance so the chef would make it dairy free. When we got the food we asked the waitress again if it was dairy free as it had cheese in and she told us again it was definitely dairy free so my partner ate the burger but I wasn't completely satisfied so I asked another waitress if it was dairy free and she said she would ask the chef, the manager comes back to our table with the receipt to tell us that it's not actually dairy free and the chef missed it. At this point we were both furious about this as it's totally unacceptable to miss something so important which was asked numerous times. I will be escalating this further
