About This Pub

Ah, The Coach House – it's one of those places that really hits the mark for a proper pub experience in Grimsby. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a standout; folks are raving about everything from massive Sunday roasts to perfectly cooked steaks and even a cracking prawn cocktail that sounds like a must-try. The atmosphere is spot on too, especially with live music over at Dexter’s Sports Bar, and it's open from early morning right through to late, making it ideal for breakfast, lunch, or a night out. Prices are pretty reasonable, so you won't break the bank, and the staff often go the extra mile with friendly chats and drink suggestions. On the flip side, though, service isn't always as smooth as you'd hope – a few people mentioned waiting ages for drinks or feeling a bit overlooked, which could put a dampener on things if you're after quick attention. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed get-together; I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just keep in mind it might not be perfect every time, but the good bits definitely outweigh the bad.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – think beautifully presented meals that taste as good as they look, with massive portions that leave you feeling well satisfied.
  • The staff are really friendly and helpful; they've got a knack for recommending drinks and making you feel welcome, which adds to the cosy atmosphere.
  • It's got a great vibe with live entertainment at Dexter’s Sports Bar, and the value for money is brilliant, especially for kids' meals that even the little ones rave about.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, particularly with drinks – you might find yourself having to chase them up or fetch things yourself when it's not too busy.
  • There have been a few grumbles about inconsistent customer service, like not getting the attention you expect in a relaxed pub setting.

Went for a suppose to be meal tonight, was sat in the terrace area, not overly busy so can’t blame that on the lack of customer services skills. Was sat here a good hr, had a couple of pints which we had to go up and get ourselves, staff was coming outside to other tables to take empty glasses or their plates away. But not once came to ours to see if we wanted a menu or anymore drinks, let alone to take the empty glasses away Absolutely disgusted and left to go eat elsewhere!!!!!

We went here for Sunday lunch we weren't disappointed, the portions were huge, two of us had the chicken, another the fish and chips and I had the beef brisket. All was perfectly cooked. We've never had a bad meal yet.

Food was brilliant. 10 out of ten. The prawn cocktail is the best I have ever eaten . Main meal was perfect too. 👌. I had fish and chips . My partner has steak. I will definitely be returning. My only criticism was the drinks were a bit slow being delivered. We had to ask and remind them.. apart from that everything was perfect

Took my wife here to the restaurant for an anniversary lunch - 06/02/25 - and we were both very impressed. It was quiet with a nice atmosphere with the restaurant itself being a very pleasant place to be. The food and service were excellent, my woodland mushrooms on toast with blue cheese sauce and wild rocket was a superb starter while my main course was a chicken and mushroom pie and chips off the specials menu and was absolutely delicious, the pie was large with lots of tasty filling and the chips were gorgeous. I tried some of my wife's Chicken Milanese main course dish and it also was extremely good. Service throughout our visit was outstanding, very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall I couldn't fault it and we will definitely be going back again very soon.
