About This Pub

Ah, the Crows Nest – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a hidden gem in Cleethorpes, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this lovely 1950s vibe in a peaceful residential spot, not far from the sea front and some nice country parks, which makes it a great base for exploring. The beer is a standout – that Samuel Smith's stuff is bang on, and plenty of folks rave about how well it's kept, making it a must-visit for anyone who appreciates a proper pint. The staff are dead friendly too, always up for a chat, and they've got quiz nights that sound like a laugh, adding to that community feel. On the accommodation side, it's straightforward and affordable, with comfy rooms and free WiFi, plus tea and coffee to sort you out in the morning. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect – the shared bathrooms might put some off, and without TVs in the rooms, it's more about unplugging and enjoying the simplicity. Oh, and if you're with a dog or need gluten-free options, it might not hit the mark, so it's worth bearing that in mind. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed getaway or a quiet drink, especially if you fancy that no-nonsense, traditional pub experience without the hustle and bustle.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer is absolutely spot on – especially the Samuel Smith's cask bitter, which is always in excellent condition and a real treat for ale lovers.
  • Friendly bar staff who make you feel right at home, with that warm, welcoming vibe that's perfect for a relaxed chat.
  • Great value accommodation starting from just £30 a night, ideal if you're looking for a simple, no-fuss stay in a quiet spot.
  • A lovely large beer garden and free car parking, making it easy to pop in for a pint or enjoy the outdoors on a nice day.
  • That traditional, heritage feel with fun quiz nights and a refurbished interior – it's got a real community spirit about it.
Cons
  • Shared bathrooms in the rooms can feel a bit old-school and might not suit everyone, especially if you're after more privacy.
  • No TVs in the bedrooms, so it's not the place for lounging around with your favourite shows – more of a unwind-without-screens setup.
  • Dogs aren't allowed inside (except for assistance ones), which could be disappointing if you're travelling with your furry friend.
  • It's tucked away in a quiet residential area, so if you're hoping for a lively, central spot, you might find it a tad out of the way.
  • Some visitors mentioned limited options, like no gluten-free choices or a few conveniences missing, so it pays to check ahead if that's important.

While doing my rounds of visiting the Samuel Smiths Pub establishments I ended up visiting this nice looking Pub on the 22nd of January 2024 which also functions as a hotel surprisingly! Unfortunately what I found was that upon entry while the bartender was friendly enough despite the lack of conversation despite this being one of the USP's of the Samuel Smith Pubs, I found that for half of the time I was actually the only person in one half of the establishment and that was actually sad which combined with the fact I was not allowed to use any tech in the establishment was a bit of a downer. Still.. If you are looking for somewhere that offers a refreshing and good pint at a reasonable/cheap price in 2024 and to enjoy it in peace then this is your perfect venue! Just be prepared that while the venue is technically in Cleethorpes it is just outside of it so getting a bus or taxi is recommended.

One my first evening outings since the COVID pandemic. Took part in the Lions pub quiz which doesn't start until 9.30pm It was well organised and a great variety of general knowledge questions. I've not rated the food as I didn't have anything to eat. The service was friendly but with no gluten free beers I opted for Cider. Very dated decor but I guess that is why some would love the place, it is clean and original! Please Mr Samuel Smith could you brew some gluten free ale as it used to be my favourite.

Pleasurably unique pub...and don't you dare be modern! I love that there isn't any "brand" beers on tap, simply Sam Smith's own. Friendly staff in this art deco style pub. But no mobile phones allowed, how shall I send this review?

Really nice Sam Smith's pub. It's not close to the centre of Cleethorpes, and is in the middle of a residential area - luxky residents. As long as you like Sam's beer that is. There is a decent sized car park and beer garden. The pub has recently been refurbished and looks really nice. There are a few rooms, including a private pool room - has its own front door. I like Sam's beer, and have travelled to lots of their pubs around the country - this is certainly a nice one. Worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. And you can't knock the prices! You can knock the fact you can't use your mobile, even to check the time. Bit of a crazy pub policy for me. But hey ho.
