About This Pub
You know, when I think about O'Neill's in Kings Cross, it really brings a smile – it's got that warm Irish pub feel with music pumping, sports on the screens, and a welcoming buzz that makes you want to settle in for the evening. The drinks flow nicely, and the food's often a highlight, like those hearty pies that remind you of a proper family dinner. It's spot on for grabbing mates together for a birthday bash or to cheer on your team, and with most folks raving about it, you can see why it's so popular. But, to be fair, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few grumbles about certain dishes not living up to the hype, and it can feel a tad commercial at times, with prices that don't always deliver that extra special touch. Still, overall, it's a reliable choice for a good time in London – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking evening.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is always buzzing with that classic Irish charm, making it a brilliant spot for a lively catch-up with friends, especially on weekends.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks and some really tasty food options, like the Steak and Guinness Pie, which feels just like a comforting home-cooked meal.
-
Service is generally quick and efficient, perfect if you're popping in for a pint while waiting for a train or catching up on live sports.
-
It's a great place for celebrations or watching the big match, with plenty of energy and options to book a table for groups.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be a bit hit or miss – like that disappointing pizza someone mentioned, which really let them down after high expectations.
-
It sometimes feels more like a chain pub than a cosy local, with prices that might not always match the experience, leaving you wishing for a bit more authenticity.
-
It can get absolutely packed at times, which might make it tricky if you're after a relaxed, quiet evening rather than a bustling crowd.

The pub I go to way too often. Good atmosphere and packed a lot of times especially on the weekends. Variety of the drinks available upon your choice
Cool place to spend some time waiting for the train at King’s Cross… online order from the table realised very quickly. Typical food but very tasty.
Hands down the worst pizza I've had in London and in a really really long time. Photo shows a slice of their 'margherita'.
Hadn't been in an O'Neil's before, really surprised it's so popular. Feels like a fast food version of a pub, but with regular pub prices.
Also the receipt was 'served' underneath my pizza dough, which was low-key gross
Update after the owner's reply:
I did not order the vegan Margherita, so unfortunately they got my order wrong. In any case, I've had vegan pizza before, and unfortunately still stand by the comments written above.
We chose O'Neill's for a birthday celebration and were given a space in the upstairs room. I ordered 10 Gold Buffet plates and took a cake and candles. George was amazing in looking after us. All the guests said they enjoyed the food—there was more than enough for us to eat—and we even brought food home. An excellent evening was had by all.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and easygoing! The Steak and Guinness Pie was delicious, and the Guinness on tap was superb! My wife had the chicken, ham, and cheese dish, which was equally as good. The food reminded me of the comforting meals from my childhood, and it's definitely something I would crave again!
