About This Pub
Ah, the Old Millwrights Arms, what a gem it is down in Aylesbury! From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got that warm, welcoming feel where you can pop in for a bite and end up chatting away with the staff, who sound absolutely lovely and always ready for a natter. The food steals the show, mind you – think delicious roasts that folks are raving about, like the juicy chicken and beef, paired with treats like strawberry pastry that's got everyone coming back for more. And don't get me started on that walled garden; it's a proper hidden spot for soaking up the sun with a cold one in hand. On the flip side, a few have noted that some menu items feel a bit pre-made rather than freshly whipped up, which is a shame if you're hoping for everything straight from the kitchen. Plus, it can be quiet now and then, which is great for a peaceful pint but maybe not if you're after a lively buzz. All in all, with a solid 4.5 rating, it's a reliable choice for us pub lovers – honest, it's got more hits than misses, and I'd say it's worth a visit for a hearty meal and good company.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a good chat which really makes the place feel like a proper local haunt.
-
The food is spot on, especially the Sunday roasts – reviewers rave about the tasty chicken, beef, and even a scrumptious strawberry pastry, all made with local ingredients where possible.
-
It's got a relaxed and cosy atmosphere with a secret walled garden that's perfect for enjoying a pint or a meal on a sunny day.
-
The vibe is just right for casual meet-ups, whether it's a weekend lunch or a quiet evening, and it's clearly a popular spot based on the glowing feedback.
Cons
-
Some of the dishes, like the pub tapas, seem to be ready-prepared rather than freshly made, which might disappoint if you're after something truly homemade.
-
It can be a bit quiet at times, as mentioned in a review, so if you're looking for a buzzing crowd every visit, it might not always hit the mark.
-
With no website listed, it's a tad tricky to check menus or book ahead online, which could be a hassle for planning a trip.

Relaxed spot with friendly staff, very popular with weekend lunches with secret well furnished walled garden space.
I can't believe it turned out to be the tastiest and the food looks the best and I ate everything and I like it very much it is number one and we will come here again :) 😀
Had a lovely roast chicken and roast beef meal here. It was a quiet day in the pub but really enjoyed food, roasts were yummy and then had a strawberry pastry with cream and chocolate. Very nice staff, had nice chat with the chef talking about sourcing local ingredients as much as possible. We were lucky to find it available as it's usually a much busier pub.
I don't know if I'm just easily pleased but this was truly lush! The day before I had gone to a restaurant in London and this home town pub smashed it out of the field (not sure if that's a metaphor 🤔).
We all had the roast belly pork and normally with a Sunday roast I find a few things on the plate just a little uninspiring. But not here, everything was great, even the veg, THE VEG!!
lovely staff, pleasant atmosphere, and decently priced. All round a perfect day
Great Pub and likely to become our new regular!
A good vibe/atmosphere and really friendly staff make this pub a great place to go.
The food was also good with something for everyone on the menu.
I'd say the only downside was that the food seemed ready prepared (pub tapas), however it still tasted good so I can't complain.
On our next visit we'll give the woodfire pizzas a go as they sounded nice!
Worth a visit! (Especially if you like ales too!).
