About This Pub

Ah, Oak & Ivy – what a gem of a spot in Burton! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with this genuine, homely feel that just puts a smile on your face; the staff, particularly Michelle, are stars at making sure everything runs smoothly, whether it's sorting out a birthday bash or just a quick chat over a drink. I love how they've got that fantastic beer garden tucked away, ideal for soaking up the sun while cheering on your team or enjoying a bit of karaoke – it's got that perfect mix of tradition and fun that keeps things lively. On the downside, it's in a quieter part of town where a few other pubs have shut up shop, so it might take a bit of effort to find if you're not local, and the food situation seems hit or miss, mostly tied to events rather than everyday availability. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for us lot who appreciate a good, affordable pint and a welcoming crowd – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself; you might just find your new favourite local!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant, especially Michelle, who goes above and beyond to make everyone feel right at home – it's like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
  • That beer garden is a hidden gem; it's spacious and perfect for gatherings, whether you're watching the match or celebrating a special occasion.
  • It's got a proper traditional pub feel with affordable drinks and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger for another round.
  • They host great events like karaoke and sports screenings, adding a fun buzz to the place without it feeling overcrowded.
Cons
  • The location's a bit tucked away in an area where other pubs have closed down, so it might not be the easiest spot to stumble upon if you're new to Burton.
  • Food seems to be more event-based, like after games or parties, so if you're popping in for a casual meal, options might be limited or uncertain.

My partner Faye had her 50th birthday here on 31.05.25. Michelle organised the food and drink and entertainment and did an incredible job. The beer garden, which is already fantastic, was set up brilliantly with a gazebo at the back. There were 60 or 70 guests, but there was no queuing at the bar as Michelle and her staff worked tirelessly. Michelle already runs a great pub and I would also highly recommend her to coordinate any event you’re planning.

I am leaving this review to thank Michelle and the team for hosting my 50th birthday on Saturday afternoon/evening. Michelle guided me through the whole event from start to finish with arranging the karaoke, catering, welcome drinks, decorations and more. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done professionally and with a touch of class 💫 The garden was a perfect location to celebrate my big day and my guests and myself had a fabulous time. I will certainly be having any special events there in the future and cannot speak highly enough of the service the team provided. Thank you SO much for a day I won’t forget 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lovely old styled pub and only playing dominoes in the pub league. As the away team we was made very welcome. Enjoyed the evening and the beer prices were reasonable 👌 The food after the matches was lovely but don't know if they do food any other time ?

Lovely pub with an amazing beer garden! From the road outside, you'd never expect this traditional pub to have such a hidden secret! The staff are so friendly as well! This pub that is situated in such an unfortunate position as most of the surrounding pubs have now closed! However, this gem of a boozer keeps on giving! ☺ Enjoy this beautiful beer garden whilst the sun shines! 🌞
