About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about the Newhall Street Tavern – it's one of those places in Birmingham that just puts a smile on your face from the moment you walk in. I've heard from a few folks who've been, and they're all raving about the staff; they're so friendly and attentive, always suggesting the perfect drink or dish to suit your mood. The food is genuinely lovely – think tasty pizzas and antipasti that's packed with flavour, making it a cut above your average pub grub. And then there's the shuffleboard; it's such a fun twist, getting everyone involved and laughing, especially with their bottomless brunch deals that sound like a bargain at £34.50 for the full experience. The drinks flow nicely too, with a great range of cocktails and beers that pair brilliantly with the vibe. On the flip side, it's still building its reputation with not many reviews yet, so it might feel a bit new or unpredictable, and those opening times can be a bit of a puzzle if you're planning a late one. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening – I'd say give it a go if you're after good company, decent nosh, and a bit of playful entertainment without the hassle.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant, always welcoming and full of great recommendations that make you feel right at home.
  • The food is a real highlight, with delicious pizzas, antipasti, and other treats that are fresh, flavoursome, and spot on for a pub meal.
  • Shuffleboard and other games add a fun, interactive vibe, perfect for a lively night out with friends.
  • The drinks selection is top-notch, including cracking cocktails, beers, and even options like Prosecco or Aperol spritz for that bottomless brunch treat.
  • The atmosphere is warm and buzzing, making it an ideal spot for groups to relax and have a good time.
Cons
  • With only around 30 reviews so far, it's still a bit under the radar and might not have the same buzz as more established spots.
  • The operating hours can seem a tad inconsistent or early in places, so it's worth double-checking to avoid missing out.

Had a lovely time here being served by excellent bar staff. James and Ryan were welcoming and friendly at the bar and great recommendations from Rowenna for food led to us having an amazing brummie pizza. The chef Tom must be Italian or something because the aranchini was exceptional. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

L The drinks were spot on, the food was delicious, and you could tell the team takes real pride in what they do. Special shoutout to the bar staff for their great recommendations and warm vibe. Easily one of the best pub experiences we’ve had in a while. Can’t wait to come back!

Chef Tommaso at the Newhall Street Tavern is a true master of his craft. From start to finish, every dish reflected skill, passion, and creativity — but the antipasti were truly next level. Each element was perfectly balanced, fresh, and bursting with flavour. It set the tone for an exceptional dining experience that only got better with every course. Tommaso’s cooking is what makes this place stand out — refined, authentic, and unforgettable. An absolute gem.

Had a great time visiting here over the weekend! Went with a few mates for some tasty pizza and games of shuffleboard, which was great fun. Cocktails were great too, made by the lovely James, who was super friendly and looked after us!
