About This Pub

Ah, Nascot Arms – what a gem in the heart of Watford! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just gets it right for a laid-back night out. The Thai cuisine is a real standout; we're talking fresh, flavoursome dishes like spicy prawn tom yum or crispy tempura that pack a punch and come in portions that'll keep you going back for seconds. Pair that with their well-kept beers and wines, and you've got a winning combo for catching up with friends over a game on the big screens. The team there are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. But, let's keep it real – it can get a bit chaotic when you're juggling orders between the pub and restaurant sides, and if you don't book ahead, you might end up queuing, which isn't ideal on a busy evening. Still, with such high praise from so many, it's worth the visit for anyone after a mix of good grub, drinks, and that community feel. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and fancy something a bit different from the usual pub fare.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Thai food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions that really hit the spot – think tasty red curry with duck or panang with prawns that leave you wanting more.
  • Friendly staff who make you feel welcome right from the start, offering that warm, homely vibe you'd expect from a local spot.
  • A great selection of well-kept beers and wines, perfect for pairing with your meal or just enjoying while watching the sporting events on the big screens.
  • It's a clever mix of a cosy pub and an authentic Thai restaurant all in one, making it ideal for a relaxed evening out with mates.
Cons
  • Ordering drinks from the pub side separately can feel a bit fiddly if you're focused on the food, as it's not all handled in one go.
  • The place gets pretty busy, especially for the restaurant, so you might need to book ahead to avoid waiting around.
  • Their website could do with a refresh – it's a tad basic at the moment, though they're working on it, which might make planning a visit less straightforward.

We went for a Thai meal here. It was excellent. Generous portions and, more importantly, delicious red curry with duck and Panang with prawns. You order drinks separately from the pub. We had 0.0 Guinness, which complemented the curry well. Booking advised for the restaurant.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing dining experience at this Thai restaurant! The Prawn Tom Yum Soup was bursting with flavors—spicy, tangy, and absolutely delicious. The Prawn Tempura was perfectly crispy and light, making it a delightful appetizer. For the main course, we enjoyed the Chicken Garlic and Peppers with Rice, which was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of garlic and spice. Overall, every dish was delicious, and we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic and tasty Thai cuisine!

My friend brought me here, where we enjoy the food here! The prawn toast is especially different from other restaurants, very unique and the red curry with duck tastes nice too.

A little bit of a gem. This place is actually two in one. On the one hand we have the Nascot Arms serving the alcohol and the other side we have an authentic Thai restaurant. Luckily for me the pub side will come to your table in the Thai side to take the drinks order to go with the fantastic food. I will say, if the menu says something is hot.. it's not a lie. Staff were polite friendly and reasonably quick with orders and service. The restaurant was clean and light, quite busy for a Monday night but only as a sign of it's popularity, and well deserved too. The atmosphere was OK but no entertainment directed at the restaurant side, however, the pub side did begin a pub quiz. All in all, a really nice place to eat, high quality authentic Thai with a very well selected menu.

Food was simply awesome. The Resturant is situated inside a pub and it was very busy when we went. Friendly service by the staff and food arrived on time. Definitely going back there again to try out new dishes. Thank you for a great experience!
