About This Pub

Ah, the Mundy Arms – it's one of those dependable pubs in Heanor that you can rely on for a relaxed evening out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really shine; they're helpful and courteous, going above and beyond to ensure you're happy, which makes the whole visit feel personal and warm. The food menu is packed with tempting choices, and those wallet-friendly deals mean you can tuck into a hearty meal without worrying about the bill – perfect for a midweek treat or a family gathering. That beer garden sounds like a gem for sunnier days, adding a bit of outdoor fun to the mix. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing; a few folks have pointed out that the food can sometimes fall short, like with a chewy steak or veg that's a tad overcooked, and things can get a bit sluggish when it's packed. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.3, it's clear this place does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a solid, no-fuss pub experience – just keep in mind it might have the odd off day like any good local haunt.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are always friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, just like in those reviews where they sorted out tables and drinks with a smile.
  • Fantastic value for money with deals like the £10 specials and two meals under £13, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly night out.
  • The food's generally spot on, with tasty options like curries, roasts, and desserts that leave you satisfied, especially with that relaxed atmosphere to enjoy it in.
  • A lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun on a nice day, adding a real outdoor charm to the experience.
  • Plenty of facilities like disabled access, WiFi, and a car park, which make it easy and inclusive for everyone popping in.
Cons
  • Occasionally, the food can be a bit inconsistent – one review mentioned a tough steak, so it might not always hit the mark.
  • Service can slow down on busier days, like Sundays with the roasts, which might mean a longer wait for your meal.
  • Some dishes, like those soft carrots, aren't always cooked just right, which could disappoint if you're after something perfectly done.

Fantastic meal with my family. We were greeted politely and shown to our table, the menu had lots of tasty options and the drinks arrived promptly. All the staff were friendly, efficient and courteous. A special mention for Tracey, who went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy. We will definitely be visiting again.

Popped in for a simple Sunday lunch and quite happily cleaned the plate. Carrots were very soft and the serve time roast on a Sunday was a bit slow (but they work off a full menu) that's all I can moan about. Atmosphere was very relaxed and peaceful. Value is great with £/quality/quantity a winner. I didn't take a great deal of notice about accessibility for disabled but the area seemed to flow nicely but some areas might be tricky. Overall I would recommend
