About This Pub
So, I was having a chat with a mate about Rutland Cottage the other day, and it's one of those pubs that really grows on you if you're after a relaxed spot in Ilkeston. The staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and quick to lend a hand, which makes popping in feel like catching up with old friends. They've nailed the drinks menu too, with a great lineup of real ales and other options that hit the spot without costing a fortune. The food's often a highlight, especially when you spot those specials on the board – it's hearty, well-priced, and just what you need after a long day. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect; a few folks have mentioned the odd meal coming out a bit dry or underwhelming, like that mixed grill that didn't quite live up to expectations. And while it's got a nice vibe, it can be quieter than you'd hope for, which might not suit if you're after a lively night. The car park's a bit tight as well, so if you're driving, you might end up playing parking roulette. Overall, it's a decent choice for a pint and a bite, especially if you're local – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a good time.

Had a. Great time here on a school reunion, will do it all again this June!
Cracking pub on the nain road between Ilkeston and Heanor. 3 hand pumps for real ale fans , lagers and ciders also on offer. Dont be put off that its part of the Pub People chain, the food is very good, good value for money and served on nice hot plates. Take a look at the Specials board in the restaurant area , as these are home made dishes prepared by the wonderful Sue. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too.
Will be back next week
Service and drinks on offer good and well priced. Food wasn't great though, had a mixed grill and the meat was so thought and dry.
Quieter than I would expect for a Sunday lunch time, but still a decent atmosphere, and decent beer too.
Not overly expensive too.
I'm not sure why, but this place doesn't seem as popular as it uses to, and I can't really tell why.
Staff was friendly though which improves the visit.
Nice local pub with good food and a nice selection of beers and spirits. Inside atmosphere is nice with friendly, helpful staff. Good size room for having a family party or wakes after a funeral. Car park is a little small. A little slow if in a very large group
