About This Pub

Ah, Mount Pleasant – it's one of those reliable spots in Walsgrave that's become a bit of a go-to for me and my mates when we're after a good pub grub fix without the fancy prices. The staff really shine through in the reviews; they're quick to serve up smiles along with your meals, and the food itself is a winner – think perfectly cooked breakfasts and generous portions that leave you satisfied. That beer garden sounds like a dream for a summer pint, and with all the sports action on offer, it's brilliant for catching the Euros or a quiz night. On the flip side, though, I've heard from a few that the atmosphere can sometimes feel a tad unwelcoming or that waits for food might drag on, so it's not perfect every time. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area; just go with an open mind, and you're likely to have a cracking time – but maybe avoid peak hours if you're after speedy service.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in – shout out to folks like Jemma and Sarah for their top-notch service!
  • The food is spot on, with hearty options like breakfast, steak pie, and fish and chips that come out piping hot and full of flavour, especially with deals like tucking in for just a tenner on weekdays.
  • It's got a great beer garden that's perfect for sunny days, plus loads of family-friendly facilities, disabled access, and even sports on the telly to keep everyone entertained.
  • Being inexpensive and open from 9am till late every day makes it a convenient spot for a casual catch-up or a quick bite without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • Some visits can feel a bit hit or miss with the atmosphere, as one person mentioned it coming across as uninviting or clicky, which might put off a group looking for a relaxed vibe.
  • There can be waits for food, like one review noting a 25-minute delay for mains, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're in a rush.
  • While most feedback is positive, that odd negative experience shows service isn't always consistent, so it might depend on when you pop in.

Terrible experience. We visited for a family dinner and from the moment we walked in the atmosphere was uninviting and clicky. We were seated at our table and ordered using the app as we were advised. Starters arrived, no issues. We waiting around 25 minutes for the mains which wasn’t a big issue and they were brought out and the waiter was trying to fit them on the table with our dirty plates - we had to ask for them to be removed. Following the mains, we ordered desserts. Again, we had to ask for the table to be cleared at which the waiter made a loud ‘huff’. We waiting around 30 minutes for desserts, I finally went to the bar to complain and the bar staff pointed to the manager who completely ignored me. I went back a few minutes later and asked to cancel the desserts and tried to explain the issues to the manager. She could not have been less interested and just refunded the desserts. She just kept repeating ‘sorry about that’ parrot fashion and sarcastically and offered no explanation of the poor service. Apart from the issues above, not once during the evening did anyone check we were ok. Seems to have gone very down hill.

Stopped off for a quick bite on our route home. We found an empty table and booked through the app. Our drinks arrived quickly and served by a pleasant staff member. The food arrived soon after and was piping hot and delicious. The pub facilities were very good with a good layout and restrooms were lovely and clean. Only negative was it was very busy and the carpark was very tight.
