About This Pub

Oh, Moorside Farm in Swinton is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway, you know? It's got that classic British warmth with staff who are always up for a chat and make you feel right at ease, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for the evening. I love how they've sorted out a smashing beer garden for those brighter days – it's brilliant for catching up with friends or just unwinding outdoors. And being dog-friendly is a real plus; it's nice to see places that welcome your four-legged pals without any bother. They've got some family events lined up too, which adds to the fun and makes it versatile for different get-togethers. On the downside, I've picked up that the food situation can be a bit unreliable – some folks have raved about it, but others have been caught out when it's not on offer, so it might pay to give them a ring ahead of time. Still, with quick service most of the time and that overall homely feel, it's a spot I'd recommend for a good laugh and a relaxed vibe, just keep an eye on the little niggles to avoid any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and make every visit feel warm and welcoming, just like chatting with old mates.
  • They've got a lovely pub garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint and some good company.
  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, so you can pop in with your furry friend without any fuss.
  • Service is generally quick and efficient, even for larger groups, which keeps things flowing nicely.
  • The atmosphere is family-friendly with events on offer, making it a great spot for gatherings of all sorts.
Cons
  • There seems to be some inconsistency with food service; one account mentioned no kitchen available, which could disappoint if you're after a proper meal.
  • Parking might be a tad tricky at times, as it's reserved for visitors and could feel a bit restrictive.
  • Occasional minor delays, like with certain dishes, might pop up, though the team does apologise and handle it well.

Sat down and we ordered pretty much instantly, food came quick and we had 7 people, amazing food and tasted amazing. The staff were kind and apologised when the fish took a little bit longer (about 5 mins longer which is completely fine and understandable, again we were a table of 7) even cracking jokes and made us all have a good laugh 10/10 would absolutely recommend

On first impressions Moorside Farm presents itself well from roadside we arrived at dusk and the pub was illuminated and looked welcoming. After speaking to the landlords we understood that they had just taken on the tenancy and they explained their hopes and aspirations for the future. They’re under no illusion it’s going to be hard work and I sincerely hope their vision comes to fruition. We’re van lifers and Tom and Amber kindly gave us permission to stay overnight in their car park free of charge, the polite and courteous action would be for us to purchase a meal there but that side of their operation is not up and running just yet. We’ll most definitely be returning and staying overnight and sampling the food. Good luck with everything Tom and Amber we’ll be seeing you soon!

The pub and serving staff were lovely, unfortunately, it was a wasted trip as according to the patron, they don't serve food anymore and don't have a kitchen, although the beer garden was comfortable. We parked around the back and noted that parking was for patrons which was fine as we were , until I received a £100 fine, at no time were we made aware that there was supposedly a place to sign in.

Came in yesterday for a drink with family to meet new owners. Met Tom the new manager, what a great guy, he was friendly and polite and told us all about the improvements he’d implemented and was in the process of implementing. Could see the difference already and felt a nicer atmosphere, beer garden looking good, function room and live sports are a bonus too. Looking forward to trying the food soon. Bar staff were nice and welcoming, as was Toms finance Amber. Shall definitely be coming back on a more regular basis,
