About This Pub
Ah, the White Horse – it's one of those reliable locals in Swinton that's become a bit of a go-to for a relaxed pint and a bite to eat. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are proper friendly sorts who make you feel like you're chatting with old pals, and they've got the telly on for all the big matches, which is brilliant if you're into your footie. The food's a highlight too; think hearty portions that hit the spot without emptying your wallet, and that beer garden's a nice touch for sunnier days. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses – I've heard a few tales of slip-ups like drinks not served quite right or tables left messy, which can take the shine off an otherwise decent visit. Still, with a solid 4.1 rating overall, it's worth popping in for a laugh and a catch-up, just maybe keep an eye on the service if you're after something flawless. All in all, it's a solid choice for us lot looking for a straightforward pub experience in Manchester.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a cracking atmosphere, especially when big sports events like the Women's Euros are on – perfect for catching the action with mates.
-
Food comes out quickly and there's plenty of great choices, like that beef and ale pie which sounds spot on.
-
It's got some lovely facilities, including a beer garden that's been spruced up, and it's dog-friendly and family-oriented.
-
Overall, it's good value for money, with honest pricing that won't break the bank for a solid pub meal and a pint.
Cons
-
Sometimes the little details slip, like serving beer in the wrong glasses or running out of ice, which can put a dampener on things.
-
Tables don't always get cleared promptly, so you might end up with a cluttered spot after a while.
-
The service can feel a bit lackadaisical at times, like staff not going the extra mile for simple fixes.
-
A few recent gripes suggest it might not always live up to expectations, especially on busier nights.
-
As a Greene King spot, it has that chain feel, which means it might lack a bit of that unique, cosy local charm.

Nothing has changed, beer in the wrong glasses, no ice @ 6.00pm on a Friday night.
Tables need cleaning, in there for nearly 2 hours, not a glass cleared.
The staff could not walk 100 yards to the co op for ice, typical Greene King, no one cares.
Booked table and called in on Saturday afternoon. Good atmosphere, with good service.
Food came quickly and great choices.
Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. The service was impeccable. The hotel was immaculate and the room was exquisite, comfortable and had everything I needed. I paid for a package which included breakfast, and it was delicious.. I was greeted by the restaurant manager in the morning who made me feel very welcome and made sure that I was well looked after. Great customer service from all the staff in the restaurant. However the star of the trip was a young man called Josh (hotel porter). He did everything to make my stay as comfortable as possible. He encapsulated everything good customer service should, nothing was too much trouble for him extremely professional and passionate about his role. Thank you!
Just had lunch there. Looks great from the road. I was asked for my table number when ordering food , the table that I really wanted didn't have a number despite a really good look 🙈. So I picked another table that had a number.
The beef and ale pie was excellent, chips and broccoli 🥦 good. The extra gravy was a bit thin , just needs reducing. Unfortunately it was brought to the table with a chip on the edge of the plate 😞
Brownie with ice cream was good .
I ate outside, which to be honest needed a good clean and sweep, loads of rubbish on the floor, which really should be done before customers arrive 😕
Friendly helpful staff. Busy for a Tuesday evening which surprised me, but could be because of the lovely weather. Food lovely and plentiful. Very fast service, didn't have to wait long at all. Such good value. Beer garden been done up since the last time I visited and looks great. Definitely recommend.
