About This Pub

Ah, Molly Malones, it's one of those places that just pulls you in with its authentic Irish charm right in the middle of Liverpool. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the live music is a real highlight – think catchy ballads that get the whole room joining in, making for some memorable nights out. The staff are gems too; they're dead chatty and make you feel like you're catching up with old friends, especially if you're lucky enough to get one of the Irish barmaids serving you a proper Guinness. It's affordable, which is always a plus for a cheeky midweek drink or watching the footy with your lot. On the flip side, though, there was that one tale of a less than stellar encounter in the restrooms, where things didn't go smoothly, which is a bit of a shame as it can spoil the fun. And it does tend to be quieter in the daytime, so if you're after a bit more energy, you'd best aim for the evening when it really comes alive. All in all, it's a solid spot for a laugh and a pint, but like any pub, it's not perfect – still, I'd say it's worth a visit for the good vibes and that welcoming feel.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The live music is absolutely brilliant, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere that really gets everyone in the mood for a good singalong or a chat with mates.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and chatty, especially the ones from Ireland who pour a decent pint and make you feel right at home.
  • It's an inexpensive spot, perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank, and they've got the footy on, which is great for catching a match.
  • The pub has a classic Irish vibe that's spot on, making it ideal for groups or a fun evening in the heart of Liverpool.
Cons
  • There have been a few grumbles about service in the restrooms, like attendants not being as helpful as you'd hope, which can put a damper on things.
  • It might feel a bit quiet during the day, so if you're after a buzzing crowd, it's probably best to pop in later when it livens up.

We attended on Saturday evening after a day out for a big family event 20 of us we called in on route back to Ruby blues. Whilst here i used the toilet and I never had change on myself to freshen up in the toilet. I asked the attendant how much for deodorant as that’s all I needed. I asked him twice how much for deodorant and he confirmed the price of a £1.00 and as I didn’t have a change of a £20 note he pulled a card reader, Again I asked the price he said £1.00 was the price with that I used my card and again I asked has a £1:00 been taken. Later on that night when I back home I checked my card and the thief had taken £9.50 🥊 Tried ringing the pub but there’s no answer because they can’t arsed emptying the voice mail. So Folks / Men who use the toilet beware of the Rat trying to Scam your hard earned cash first time I’ve ever been ripped by one of these toilet attendants. You’ve been warned

We arrived here after searching for a pub that had live music, after passing Matthew Street, and finding nothing to our taste, we walked past and then doubled back at the sound of an Irish ballad. As we walked in the atmosphere was lively, and you could tell people were having a good time, and could enjoy the music, their chats, and even the UFC on the TV's by the bar. Staff were friendly and so were the fellow patrons, and our group was able to mix and mingle with other groups, which sometimes without the right vibe of a place, wouldn't be possible. In my opinion, Molly Malones has got it all, and is well worth a visit for a good night out.

3 friends and I traveled to Anfield from the US to go to a game. On the first night we went to Malones and immediately loved the place. Jacqueline, A Donegal woman was fantastic behind the bar and really friendly. there were two other ladies from Belfast, who were really really great also. All 3 very helpful in our hunt for kebabs also 😉😂😂. Her husband Dermot, another Donegal made us feel very much at home even standing a 🍺 for us. Guinness is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is second to none. All 4 of us are Originally from Ireland and felt immediately at home. A fantastic bar.

Pretty big Irish pub in town, not far off Mathew street. Guinness is ok here, especially if you get one of the Irish barmaids to pour it. Quiet during the day but gets busier later on, usually have the footy on.
