About This Pub

Oh, what a gem the Marquis of Westminster is for anyone fancying a proper pub experience in the heart of London – it's got that classic feel with a bit of flair, you know? I have to say, the food really shines; their Sunday roasts and dishes like bangers and mash are just the ticket for a comforting feed, all made with good ingredients and served by staff who go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. It's ideally placed near the stations, so it's easy to drop in after a day out, and their cocktail selection adds a nice touch if you're up for something beyond the usual pint. That said, it's not perfect – there have been times when the grub wasn't quite up to scratch, like a roast that arrived a bit cool or lacked that wow factor, and on quieter evenings, it can feel a smidge lacking in atmosphere. Still, with its strong reputation and welcoming vibe, it's worth a visit if you're in the area; just keep expectations balanced, and you'll likely have a cracking time sharing stories over a drink or two.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is spot on – think solid, well-made traditional dishes with a twist, like those fabulous Sunday roasts that leave you feeling properly satisfied.
  • Service is warm and attentive; the staff really make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or a full meal.
  • It's in a brilliant spot in Pimlico, just a short walk from Victoria and Pimlico stations, perfect for a post-sightseeing pint or catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a great selection of cocktails and beers, plus that on-site infused gin that's a real treat if you're in the mood for something special.
Cons
  • Occasionally, the food might not be at its best – like when the roast turns up a bit cold or stringy, which could disappoint if you're after a flawless meal.
  • The atmosphere can be hit or miss; it might feel a tad quiet at times, especially if it's not buzzing, so it's not always the lively spot you'd hope for.
  • Being in a touristy area, it can sometimes lack that intimate, local pub vibe, which might make it feel a bit generic on busier days.

While it is not easy to get good food in touristy London, this place serves, solid, well made, traditional food served by nice people in a traditional pub setting. While not a gourmet place and serving no frills type of food, the dishes are very well thought out and made with good ingredients. You come out very satisfied even though not shocked by innovation. We stopped by several neighborhood places and this was the best overall by far.

Based on a few recommendations, I booked a table here for a Sunday roast about a month ago. We arrived and were seated promptly. Wonderful service throughout our arrival, meal and departure. The food was excellent! My husband had the rump roast and I had an absolutely delicious chicken and leek pie. The crust was light and flaky and the filling was flavorful. My husband enjoyed the meat, roasted potatoes and the horseradish. We ordered sticky toffee pudding with Biscoff ice cream. It was absolutely delicious! I didn’t take a picture but we ate every bite. Attentive and friendly service, excellent food.

OMG such good food. I had the bangers and mash (Butler's Bangers), but the title is unworthy of such a superlative dish. Next level. He had the pork. We would have shown the meals before consumption but we were too busy eating them.

Big shout out to MAEVE, ASH, CHEF and kitchen staff for making our last night (...and THE LAST SUPPER....) in London memorable with a FABULOUS Sunday Roast smothered in thick gravy, puffy crisp Yorkshire Pudding and some deelish veg !!! All washed down with some GREAT BEER!!!! This place was within easy walking distance (through an interesting area we sadly did NOT get to explore !!!) of our hotel by VICTORIA TAPS who recommended the MARQUIS for the Sunday Roast. I was worried for the ladies hauling food up the stairs but there was a dumbwaiter!!! Second floor windows overlook chimney-potted roofs and I THOUGHT I saw Dick Van Dyke running across at one point!!!! Thanks to all for the memories.

Very sweet pub - we took the Christmas set menu here. They made a real effort to set a lovely table, but it was really quiet inside so lacked atmosphere. The roast wasn’t great - kind of cold and the turkey was stringy. But the starters of pate and prawns were both great.
