About This Pub
Ah, Market Cross in Dunstable – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, doesn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff really go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a full meal. The food stands out as a winner; folks rave about the steaks and ribs being spot-on, cooked just how you like them, and it's all priced fairly so you don't feel short-changed. Plus, it's smashing for families and even your four-legged friends, with a brilliant outdoor area that's ideal for soaking up the sun or enjoying a bite al fresco. It's near some great attractions too, making it a handy stop-off. On the flip side, though, there have been a couple of grumbles about drinks not always being poured accurately, which might leave you a tad miffed if you're after that perfect measure. Overall, it's come on leaps and bounds with its fresh makeover, and while it's not flawless, I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed catch-up with mates – just keep an eye on those drinks orders!

-
Being dog-friendly means you can bring your furry mate along, which adds to the welcoming vibe
-
The recent renovations have given the place a fresh, tidy look, and it's conveniently located near spots like Whipsnade Zoo
Cons

There have been a few mentions of drinks not being measured quite right, like a short pour on wine, which can be a bit disappointing
-
While it's improved a lot, some might miss the old carvery setup if that's what they were after

Excellent Father’s Day meal! I had the steak Americano was perfectly cooked medium and peppercorn sauce was warmed perfectly and a great selection of drinks, service was great quick and couldn’t have been more helpful on ordering. We will be back again and it was lovely to see the new renovated pub! Looks excellent 😄

Re-review from previous 2*
Whole place has been tarted up and now has a separate bar and restaurant. Carvery is no more and now has a standard menu.
A change for the better as far as I'm concerned.
-1* for a drink ordered was given a short measure. Ordered a 250ml glass of wine on the website and on a glass marked with a 250ml line the drink was brought out a good centimetre shy of the line. I can only assume they used a 175ml measure by accident. When pointed out to the barman was very apologetic and topped up to the line without question.
Food was generally good. I had Rump Americano. Effectively Hunters chicken but with beef instead of chicken breast. Was lovely. My Mrs had a 8oz sirloin. Quite gristly. Couldn't eat about half of it. Hit and miss. Kids menu was as expected and little one wolfed it down.
Liked the new bar/restaurant layout. Restaurant still had TVs blasting out football in every direction. Was fine. Would prefer if it were muted in the restaurant but that's definitely a nitpick.
Lovely decor, food was very nice, and a great choice, and reasonably priced, the service was good with friendly helpful staff, it is very clean and tidy, it also is child friendly with a nice garden area and plenty of parking
Staff were very welcoming and friendly couldnt do enough to make our visit enjoyable. Food was amazing we got steak and ribs , the steak was cooked to perfection and the ribs melted in your mouth . The staff also brought our dog a bowl of water and a bowl of turkey so she didn't feel left out which was so nice of them . Definitely had a lovely relaxed time here and definitely will be visiting again soon.
