About This Pub
So, chatting about the Highwayman in Dunstable, it's one of those reliable spots that really hits the mark for a casual get-together. From what folks are saying, the staff stand out as the real stars – think attentive servers like Maria and Jack who go the extra mile to make sure you're looked after, whether it's helping with your order or keeping an eye on the little ones. It's got that family-friendly vibe down pat, with perks like a big car park, EV charging, and free Wi-Fi that make it super convenient, especially if you're nipping in after a drive on the M1. And at these inexpensive prices, you can tuck into some solid pub grub without it denting your wallet. On the downside, there was a mention of one bar staff member who didn't quite nail the customer service side, which is a shame as it could put a dampener on things. Plus, if you're eyeing up the hotel rooms, they're comfy enough but feel a bit outdated, so maybe not the best for a fancy overnight stay. All in all, it's a great pick for watching sports with a pint or enjoying a relaxed meal, but I'd say it's worth going in with realistic expectations – the good bits far outweigh the niggles, making it a solid choice for a laid-back outing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, with plenty of praise for their attentiveness and warm welcomes.
-
It's a fantastic family-friendly spot with great amenities like a spacious car park, EV charging, free Wi-Fi, and disabled facilities, making it easy for everyone to pop in.
-
Prices are really affordable, so you can enjoy a hearty meal or a few drinks without worrying about the bill adding up too quickly.
-
It's brilliant for catching live sports, like the Women's Euros, with a relaxed atmosphere and options to book a table for the big games.
Cons
-
Some staff members could do with a bit more training on customer service, as one experience highlighted a less than welcoming interaction at the bar.
-
If you're thinking of staying overnight, the rooms are a tad dated and might not feel as fresh as you'd hope.
-
Service can vary a bit, so while most visits are spot on, it's worth noting it might not always be consistently top-notch.

Rooms are a little dated, but comfy and have everything you need. The staff were lovely and really made us feel welcome. Located in Dunstable not too far from the centre which suited us well.
Maria was lovely. Really attentive in making sure me, my husband and our 2 daughters were happy and looked after.
The food and service were both lovely. We don't live in the area, but when we visit again we will be back! She was very kind to our daughters making sure they were happy, especially with their pudding!
I visited the Highwayman restaurant for an evening meal. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Jack was our server, he was polite, friendly and helpful. Also, thankyou to barstaff Maria who ensured my order was correct and kindly helped me to carry it safely. I will visit again.
I had a fantastic experience at the pub, and I want to give a special shoutout to Maria for her outstanding service. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Maria handled everything with professionalism and a warm smile, ensuring our orders were perfect and delivered promptly. Her positive attitude and attention to detail really elevated our visit.
The lady at the check in desk was very pleasant to deal with.
Beds were comfortable.
But can Imention the bar man witht the red hair Ju I think his name was he would want to learn some customer service aspects of his job.
We set down for breakfast and he came down to the table and ask us to come to the bar and pay first then when we done that he tried to over charge us which I had to correct him on.
