About This Pub

Ah, Mark Twain in Rochdale – it's one of those pubs that sounds like a right gem based on what folks have shared. From the reviews, it's got this warm, welcoming feel that harks back to traditional boozers, where you can pop in for a pint and chat with the locals. The beers are reasonably priced and there's a good variety, plus the staff really make an effort to keep things cheerful, especially with events like karaoke that get the place buzzing. It's also impressively clean, which is something you don't always find in pubs these days, and they've got that community touch with charity efforts that make you feel part of something nice. On the downside, though, there was that one off-putting story about getting charged more than expected, so it's worth double-checking your bill to steer clear of any hassle. And with the reviews dating back a couple of years, it might not be as active now, but if you're in the area and fancy a relaxed spot for a drink, I'd say give it a go – it's got that honest, down-to-earth charm that makes for a good night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully friendly and welcoming, making it feel like a proper local spot where everyone knows each other.
  • They've got a solid selection of beers at fair prices, which is always a treat for a casual night out.
  • The staff are really approachable and create a great vibe, especially with fun events like karaoke on offer.
  • It's kept spotlessly clean, right down to the toilets, which adds to the overall comfort.
  • There's a strong community spirit, with things like charity support that make you feel good about stopping by.
Cons
  • There was a dodgy experience with overcharging mentioned in one review, which could leave a sour taste if it happens to you.
  • The reviews are a bit on the old side, with the latest from 2022, so it might not be as lively these days.
  • No website or online presence means it's tricky to get the latest info before heading over.

Absolutely spotless toilets, main priority in my eyes. Beers fair priced .Guinness pulled every day for locals so obviously as good as you'll get not being in Ireland . No druggies allowed great atmosphere never any trouble .Run by Landlaldy who takes no bull off anyone. All respect to Dorris who puts all profits into charities.

Thoroughly enjoyed the company I and my girlfriend met in the beer garden yesterday. The beer and wine was top notch. Please help them support Springhill Hospice on their charity day soon.
