About This Pub
Ah, Malt & Hops – it's one of those spots that just pulls you in with its cosy charm and that unmistakable pub feel, especially down by the shore in Leith. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the atmosphere is spot on; it's all about friendly faces and a welcoming crowd that makes you feel like you're part of the gang right away. The beer selection is a real highlight – they've got an array of real ales and other tipples that could keep you occupied for hours, and the staff know their stuff, often sharing tips on the best brews or even suggesting nearby eateries if you're peckish. It's ideal for a laid-back night out, whether you're up for a good chat with locals or just soaking in the view. On the flip side, it's a bit of a shame they don't do food on site, so if you're planning a proper session, you might need to sort out a meal elsewhere to keep things going. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine pub experience in Edinburgh, with plenty of positives that outweigh the minor drawbacks.

Malt & Hops is a fantastic pub with a wonderful atmosphere. The crowd was friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The selection of beers was impressive, and the overall vibe of the place was perfect for a relaxed night out. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great pub experience in Edinburgh!
Very nice place, cosy, beautiful view on the shore. They are not serving food but there are enough places around serving food. Ray the manager was very nice to us , friendly and very good knowledgeable about beers and whiskies. Told us where to go around and recommend us very good restaurants as well.
I ll go back for sure in my next time in Scotland.
Great atmosphere, fun busy pub on the water. Excellent choice of beers
Incredible pub. Will be the last beacon for the real ale drinkers in Edinburgh, once everyone else drops it, eventually. It's a pub, so no food.
Recently dropped the lighting in the evenings, which mixed with fantastic people behind the bar and some exceptional chats you can have here have created an outstanding atmosphere.
Went here for a few drinks before a homebrew competition. First me Frankie, who was super friendly and chatty, made you feel very welcome. I then weirdly sitting at the bar a lovely young lady from leith and a Liverpudlian, Everyon fan called Phil, and for two hours we mattered as if we knew each other for years. Just amazing little pub. Ps unfortunately no winners with my beers, but it’s the taking part that counts. I will return one day, and you never, I might meet the two at the bar again. Get to this place, for great atmosphere and amazing service.
