About This Pub
Ah, Toast in Leith is one of those hidden gems that just makes you want to linger a bit longer over a cuppa or a glass of wine. From what I've gathered, it's all about that easy-going vibe, perfect for catching up with friends over some truly tasty grub – think imaginative breakfasts like avocado toast with poached eggs or shakshuka that's packed with flavour, and don't even get me started on their artisan cakes, which sound utterly irresistible. The staff are a real highlight too; they're super approachable and helpful, especially if you're navigating the wine list or trying something new. It's in a great spot with a nice view of the waterside, making it feel even more inviting on a sunny day. On the flip side, it's worth noting that things can be a tad inconsistent – one review mentioned eggs that weren't as runny as hoped, and popular items might run out, so timing your visit could make all the difference. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing, and I'd say it's well worth a try if you're in Edinburgh and fancy a place that balances good food with a friendly, unpretentious feel.

-
Open from early till late, serving everything from breakfast to evening small plates, so it's versatile for any time of day.
Cons
-
Some dishes might not always come out perfectly, like the eggs in huevos rancheros being a bit overdone or the tortilla feeling dry.
-
Certain items, such as gluten-free cakes, can sell out quickly, so you might miss out if you pop in later in the day.
-
It's got a moderate price tag, which is fair but could add up if you're planning a longer visit with drinks and food.

Nice place for lunch or brunch. Good variety of dishes. The shakshuka was nice, and the huevos rancheros were pretty good, but the egg yolk was quite solid and the “soft” tortilla was hard and dry. Some nice juices on the menu too. It’s in a good location with a decent view of the water side.
It was the most different and delicious sakasuka I've ever had. I had Lon & Lavender and Salted Chocolate cake. Both were delicious, I can't make a distinction.
Absolutely loved our breakfast here! The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was fantastic. We tried two dishes—Avocado Poached Eggs and Mushroom Poached Eggs—and both were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. A great spot to start the day; highly recommended!
The waitress is very kind and lovely, she even suggests things if you’re unsure about what to order(I’m new into coffee so don’t really know much about it, she suggested me one according to what I like). The food was delicious and we were asked a few times if everything was okay, very kind. They windows were open and that made the place a bit cold (kept my jacket on) overall, very nice place. Recommended.
Walking through the doors at 11am, we were instantly captivated by the display of delectable treats awaiting us. We settled on two exquisite choices – a warm cinnamon cake and a refreshing lavender & lemon cake – both of which exceeded our expectations in every way. The cinnamon cake offered the perfect balance of spice and sweetness, while the lavender & lemon combination provided a sophisticated flavor profile that was both unique and comforting.
What impressed us most was the remarkable variety of options available. Beyond our selections, the bakery showcased an impressive array of cakes and loaves, each looking more tempting than the last – from rich chocolate creations to fruit-studded delights.
The service matched the quality of the food, with attentive staff who were knowledgeable about their offerings and genuinely pleased to assist us. The seating arrangements deserve special mention – comfortable chairs arranged to provide both privacy and a pleasant atmosphere for conversation.
After a morning of exploring and walking, this charming establishment provided exactly the respite we needed. The combination of exceptional baked goods, welcoming ambiance, and thoughtful service made this much more than just a quick stop, enjoy!
