Ah, Makis Leisure – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you get past the initial look of things. From chatting about the reviews, the food stands out as a real winner; folks rave about the homemade dishes, whether it's the perfectly cooked carvery that has you going back for seconds or the lasagne that's tasty enough to overlook the odd veggie shortage. The staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels right at home, which adds a lovely touch to the atmosphere. Plus, with events like comedy nights and sports screenings, there's always something to keep the energy up. On the flip side, it's a shame the place has that dated feel – it can come across as a bit worn around the edges, and it's frustrating when the restaurant or chip shop isn't open, leaving you high and dry for food options, particularly if you're there out of season. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together over a pint and a meal, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan around the busier times.

Cons
-

The decor feels a bit dated and drab, almost like stepping into an old working men's club, which might not appeal if you're after something more modern.

-

Food services can be unreliable, with the restaurant and chip shop often closed, especially during off-season, making it tricky to grab a meal on site.

There are occasional slip-ups with the food, like a dish arriving cold or not quite up to scratch in terms of portions, which can be a letdown.

Very drab and dated. The restaurant was always closed so wasn’t able to dine in as we had hoped (maybe because it was off season, but the chip shop was never open so food on site was non existent). The main bar was very drab and dated and looked no different from your local working men’s club that was stuck in the mid 80s. Dogs were roaming free off lead (even though it states on the website dogs must remain on lead), drinks expensive although they can charge as they please being the only pub in the area, and no phone signal at all once you enter the main bar so carry cash or a physical bank card. The arcade was also closed even though it was half term though the lobby did have a £3 win every time claw machine to keep children happy.
Homemade food - only had one issue where my lasagne was cold in middle but was promptly sorted. Was a shame there was only one aubergine and 2 peppers in the sauce of the vegetable lasagne but was tasty!!! And ever better 2 meals for £15 at lunch time
Hey I work here if i put 1 star I would probably get sacked, I'm kidding 😅, honestly I would say this is the best pub/restaurant in bridlington the food is realy nice, the staff are really nice, the entertainment is nice, everything is nice, I would reccomend a visit to eat, or have a drink or 2 (or 10) or just bring your children to be entertainment by sparky marky or katy, bingo is also on every night aswell as a quiz and card on sundays. I would recommend it so come visit 🙂🙂🙂

We are local in Bridlington and it’s the first time we’ve tried Maki’s for a Sunday Carvery.
It was absolutely top notch! 10/10
The food was perfectly cooked, and a really enjoyable experience, we were stuffed by the time we’d finished.
The pudding was amazing too (Apple Crumble & Custard and an Ice cream Sundae)
The staff were so lovely.
We will 100% be back and I will be recommending to everyone I know.
Thank you for a lovely Sunday with great comfort food.
